Agreed. He also had a great year last year while battling through a knee injury which his pitching coach in Cleveland said may have led to his issues this year.

Teams in the top 10 (15 maybe??) dont lose their first round pick as compensation. I believe they just give a supplemental pick at the end of the 1st round to the team that lost the free agent.

Now there may be a bit of a bias here, but I still think Toronto is the better team. In the next 2-3 weeks, the Jays should get Brett Lawrie, Edwin Encarnacion and Adam Lind off the DL. That's more of an improvement than any team made today.

Of course, that all hinges on rehab going smoothly for those three.

Also, if you judge Cherington just based on today, he gets a solid A. Now....don't get me started about failing to re-sign Lester...I just don't understand that logic. I'm thinking something in the 120-30 range would have gotten it done in Spring Training.

Who was the last Red Sox to actually enter free agency for real and then resign with the team? 'Tek?
