I gotta find a way to play No Man's Sky. Are they coming out with a PC version?

Also, what is Rocket League like? My stepson and his friends play it all the time and seem to enjoy it.

500gb is plenty. I wouldn't worry about that. Although it depends how you are buying the games, I suppose - you will save space if you buy discs instead of downloading.

You can connect via WiFi; no need for a wire. Not sure about the speed.

Doesn't matter how far away your friends are. People play when they are in different countries.

Controller battery lasts probably 6-8 hours I would guess, but it includes a charging cord and you can keep playing while it's charging. Cord is a little short, though.

I wouldn't worry about heat/noise. PS4 is a relatively quiet system, and as long as you don't have it enclosed, it will ventilate itself.
Awesome, thank you!

I'll add that even the disc games install the entire game to the HDD, so digital vs. disc is the same amount of space regardless. 500 still should be fine with the games you listed. You can upgrade the hard drive pretty easily, thankfully, if you ever need to in the future.

Also, while the wifi option should be fine in most cases, you'll get a better connection if you are hardwired to your modem, but it's not necessary.

Additional fans are def a waste of money. The stock headset is fine but keep in mind it's just one earbud with a mike on the cord that connects to the controller. I don't play online that much, so I don't care, but you may want to find an upgrade if you plan on playing online a lot.

Also, the Sony Wireless Gold headest (virtual surround sound) is really nice for the money and you can usually get it for 60-80 dollars on sale. The system does come with a an earbud/mic headset you can plug into the controller but quality isn't great.

Keep in mind that you'll need to subscribe to PS+ to play most (if not all?) online games. If you get a 12-month subscription, it only averages like $4 a month.

PS Plus also gives you 2 or 3 free games every month, some of which are really really good (like Rocket League).

I'll also chime in and say that yes, 500gb is plenty for your average user. I play a fair bit and find that i run out of space occasionally, but it's easily remedied by going in and deleting the install files of your disc games (that you aren't playing or don't intend to for a while). Also, clean out your downloads and game updates.

I also wouldn't worry about a fan. I keep my PS4 inside a tv stand and even when enclosed on 3 sides, it ventilates itself well enough. The ps3 has a tendency to get noisy in that same space though.

I connect mine wirelessly to my wifi and i've never had a problem with lag or connection speed while playing online. YMMV of course, but as long as you've got a strong signal and a decent connection you should be fine. I do find that downloading things takes far longer than it should though. To the point where i've almost considered running a wire through the house when i'm trying to download a stupid 16GB update file for Elder Scrolls :gomez:

I had to run a wire for my PS4 cause its in the one room in the house that is a quasi wifi dead zone. I could only get a couple bars. It was a pain but now everything is fast in that room so it was worth it. 200ft of cable. I ran coax cable too in case I want cable in there one day. I'm sure this is riveting to everyone.

Yes, I started in August. It is definitely worth it if you buy more than 3 or 4 new games per year.

Yeah I think I'm gonna do it. $38 for Star Wars Battlefront at launch is appealing. Sounds like BB price matches too. Witcher 3 is $39.99 on Amazon but 59.99 at BB. If I could get the Amazon price with an additional 20% off that's great too.

Yeah, that program is awesome if you are impatient like me and can't wait for new games to price drop. I think I'm in it until like 2018. By the way, if you do price match, they will not tack on an extra 20%, but your mileage may vary there. Doesn't hurt to ask. The one time I tried the manager told me it was an either/or type deal. Also, buy the Witcher 3. Game of the year hands down.

Right now my game of the year is a three way tie between Mario Maker, Bloodborne, and MGS V. Picking up NBA 2k16 later today.

I can't decide if I want to get Witcher 3 now or wait for a Game of The Year or Ultimate version or whatever type release with all the extras in there. I've been holding out for the last Batman to do that too.

From what I've heard Live is better than last year but 2k16 is in the territory of best basketball sim ever. I think the competition is good.
