The top six teams in the standings at the end of the season will make the playoffs. First and second place will receive byes into the semifinals. Tie-breakers for the second and sixth spots will be settled via play-in game. These games are considered part of the regular season, so pitchers in them are subjected to regular season rest restrictions. Tie-breakers for the other spots will be based on head-to-head record. If the teams split their meetings, the tie will be broken by whoever had the better record against the highest seeded team overall (this will carry down in the standings until the tie is broken).
There will be a day off in between the regular season and postseason. Any play-in games will take place on this day off. There will be one game per day in the playoffs to allow people a chance to tailor their rotation/lineup in response to the results of the previous day's games*. All series are best of seven, 2-2-1-1-1 format. You will have the option to start a pitcher on two games' rest TWICE during the entire playoffs. As with the regular season, a pitcher needs full rest after starting on short rest.
*We can discuss the possibility of running a second game on certain days if both teams acknowledge they're ready to go.
Lament wrote:If four teams tie for sixth, we well do the head-to-head/best record against first place thing to rank those four teams from #1-#4. Then we'd have a three game mini-tournament for the sixth seed. If it is a three-way tie we will do the same thing to rank those teams #1-#3. #1 would play #2. The loser would play #3. The winner of that second game would play the winner of the first for the sixth seed.

I need to update the last 2 series, but O'Neill has had an ever stronger second half of the season chasing Hornsby. AVG approaching .400, 100+ hits, 30+ doubles, double digit SBs,SLG around .635 which is better than Hornsby, and an OPS right there as well.

Shit, I left Cleveland Shoeless Joe out of the MOP discussion. He's hitting over .400 as well.

Yaz has kind of taken himself out of it. He's only hitting .346/.452/.537 now. Manny is right behind him but has been much stronger of late.

Appling has dipped too. He's down to .378/.468/.464. Shoeless Joe is right on his heels too (.370/.425/.468). As amazing as those slash lines still are, I can't honestly say they deserve more than an honorable mention in the MOP debate and a shot at First Team All-RM.

That's entirely up to the commissioner.
