I’d be comfortable with eliminating athletic scholarships, and instead addressing the fact that the only reason we need alternative pathways to higher education is because we have made higher education unattainable for too many people.Bi_3 wrote:Peeps wrote:its not a matter of can this happen it did happen. title IX wasnt signed into law until 1972 and before that athletic scholarships for women were rare.Bi_3 wrote:Let's try this thought experiment: Putting aside whether or not this can happen, would you be comfortable if all college level athletic scholarships went to men?

no i wouldnt. there is a lot i would change about the college experience for athletes. giving all the scholarships to men when there are womens sports really does not compare to whether a transgendered woman can use a ladies bathroomBi_3 wrote:Peeps wrote:its not a matter of can this happen it did happen. title IX wasnt signed into law until 1972 and before that athletic scholarships for women were rare.Bi_3 wrote:Let's try this thought experiment: Putting aside whether or not this can happen, would you be comfortable if all college level athletic scholarships went to men?

this is like survey bias. why did people donate their brains to science? b/c they showed signs of cte, and 21% of those brains had it. if you studied every one who has ever played high school football, there's no way you get anywhere near 21% with cte. please stop trying to cancel tackle football.
sorry, go on with your transgender stuff

perhaps the whole communal bathroom setup needs to go away. just have individual unisex crappers and everyone's happy.

OK, so then some should go to women. But like how much? What percentage of scholarships for women's sports should go to women (cis and trans)?Peeps wrote:no i wouldnt. there is a lot i would change about the college experience for athletes. giving all the scholarships to men when there are womens sports really does not compare to whether a transgendered woman can use a ladies bathroomBi_3 wrote:Peeps wrote:its not a matter of can this happen it did happen. title IX wasnt signed into law until 1972 and before that athletic scholarships for women were rare.Bi_3 wrote:Let's try this thought experiment: Putting aside whether or not this can happen, would you be comfortable if all college level athletic scholarships went to men?

Re: Transgender Rights
The ACLU's lawyer going on CNN and stating trans kids knew they were trans at two years old is quite the move the night before a Supreme Court hearing on laws banning medicalized childhood transition. Kids who are struggling with gender and sexual identity issues need real support from trained professionals, not ridiculous nonsense like that.

providing students with scholarships that make a school millions of dollars (that are mostly male driven sports but not all) is not the same as transgendered women using a ladies room to poop or pee or check their makeup

Re: Transgender Rights
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic here, but what problem does this solve exactly? How does this address the fundamental reason we have different bathrooms for the sexes in the first place?Bi_3 wrote:This should be trivial to implement across the USepilogue wrote:The Alamo Draft House in downtown Manhattan had it figured out. so why were bathrooms put there if not to be used?Bi_3 wrote:Chesterton's FencePeeps wrote:can you get to your point? you are sounding like a bad faith actor in a hallmark movieBi_3 wrote:Peeps wrote:no i wouldnt. there is a lot i would change about the college experience for athletes. giving all the scholarships to men when there are womens sports really does not compare to whether a transgendered woman can use a ladies bathroomBi_3 wrote:Peeps wrote:its not a matter of can this happen it did happen. title IX wasnt signed into law until 1972 and before that athletic scholarships for women were rare.Bi_3 wrote:Let's try this thought experiment: Putting aside whether or not this can happen, would you be comfortable if all college level athletic scholarships went to men?

you are saying that .003% of the total number of women should not have a right to a bathroom because someone may seem scary or over 167 million women in the united states may be offended by 547K
(there are approximately 1.6 million transgendered men/women in the United states
of those 1.6 million 547K are men transitioning/identify as men
there are 168.6 million women in the US
i have a much better chance of shitting next to a rapey priest than a woman has of pissing next to a rapey transgendered woman.
theres your critical thinking

If someone is unwilling to acknowledge why the bathrooms were separated in the first place how can they be informed enough to advocate for removing that separation?tommy wrote:Got him

Re: Transgender Rights
I am being sarcastic because remodeling millions of commercial and public properties is simply not going to happen, but this approach does solve a problem by eliminating the debate over bathrooms. No one can complain about a people going into the "wrong" gendered bathroom if there are no gendered bathrooms. It does not address the fundamental reasons why the bathrooms were separated in the first place (this is the Fence) or what to do about the all the existing bathrooms but it does present a solution that prevents discrimination and as I've mentioned before in this thread I believe at the school level we are going to have to have open bathrooms anyway for a variety of behavioral reasons beyond gender discrimination. *I am using bathroom to mean just a toilet and sink, not a locker room which is a more difficult question.BurtReynolds wrote:I can't tell if you're being sarcastic here, but what problem does this solve exactly?
