After a month off a very average, forgettable start to ‘24. A few mild laughs here & there but nothing particularly stood out. Elordi wasn’t asked to do that much; mostly be tall and attractive.
Dakota Johnson hosts next week; musical guest is Justin Timberlake so I hope they use him in some sketches too.

Cold open and Update were good.

Everyone breaking in the AA sketch when Punkie's tiddies came out was funny.

The Michael McKean episode of Fly is REALLY good. Far better than the Aykroyd episode.

Another weak outing. The Home Videos pre taped short was pretty good, didn’t see that coming. JT’s first song was good and I liked the Please Don’t Destroy piece.
Barry Gibb Talkshow went on too long.
The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri next week with. Jennifer Lopez, another one where the musical guest is the bigger name.

Home videos was good.

Fallon gives it all as Barry Gibb. No wonder he was out of breath.

Roasting with the writers was great. "I'm gonna change the cue cards so you say the n-word during your monologue" That was funny shit.

1. Roasting with the writers
2. Home videos was funny.
3. Tarot reader bit.

Overall pretty "meh" though.

Apparently they are casting SNL 1975 right now. They’ve gotten pretty much all of the leads cast. I didn’t even know they were making this.

AFAIK Downey is still working on his documentary

Good episode. A short one. This is the era I’m most interested in hearing about and Piscopo tells some good stories.

Pretty good episode overall actually, especially in light of the last two clunkers. The open was actually one of the bottoms tier sketches. Ayo was genuinely excited to be there as host and brought a level of enthusiasm that mad been missing, even laying it on a bit thick at times. But I would take that over flat, stiff line readings. Che gave the crowd a shoutout during Update, it did seem a louder audience than usual.
Two weeks off before Shane Gillis hosts. I know he was briefly a writer but honestly don’t know too much about him.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Maybe... Or maybe "Why'd You Say It" was squeezed in last minute to allow Ayo Edebiri to clear the air about her 2020 "comments" on JLO.
I thought that moment was the whole point of the skit.

Isn't it less than ideal to do material that was in your special? Guy can't come up with a couple new jokes? Especially if he's going to deliver them like that? The only laughs he got were out of pity when he started telling the audience how bad he was doing
