He's just a terrible actor who lucks into a decent performance from time to time. I don't even remember him in The Departed and I'm okay with that.

I'm hoping Uncharted is one of the lucky performances. I'm actually kind of excited to see him in that.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I don't disagree with this. Certain movies -- Boogie Nights, The Departed, Patriots Day, The Other Guys, Daddy's Home 2 (I'm serious) -- work really well because he just does his thing. But he's not what I would consider a good actor.

I love whalberg. I’m not gonna say whether he’s a good actor or not. That is a good thread to start.

However, the movies you noted above I absolutely love him in. He has a good comedic timing. Daddy’s home is great. I don’t know - I have a soft spot for Whalberg. I really like him.
