Interesting. This is like an inverse of the shy Trump voter theory from 2016.

Guess that whole thing about chilling out with the dangerous rhetoric is out the window.

I can never understand the whole "slow down the rhetoric" calls I hear. If you want your opponents to not call you a fascist then perhaps don't literally show every single character trait of text book fascism. If you don't want to be called a threat to democracy then don't call your people to storm the Capitol to literally try to stop the certification of a democratic process that you didn't like the result of. If you don't want to be compared to Hitler than don't constantly use his specific language to the same effect that he did - to stir up division and hatred along ethnic lines (vermin poisoning the blood of the nation anyone?).

The whole "slow down the rhetoric" thing is just a calling card of Trump apologists across the board to give them another comeback to Trump's antics to his critics without having to actually address said antics. These things should be called out and people told of them, fuck the rhetoric. Not that it makes a single iota of difference to his base regardless!

You're a terminal case I'm afraid. There is no helping you.

The whole "slow down the rhetoric" thing was in response to people taking literal shots at Trump. And when you spend every day for years trying to brainwash people like you into thinking that democracy and the Constitution is going to end if he gets elected and he will institute a fascist police state, then yeah that might inspire one of you deranged people into doing what must be done to stop it. Somehow you geniuses forget he was already president once.

It's the height of human fucking idiocy to think that he's the next Hitler.

I don't think he's the next Hitler at all. I'm just saying he keeps bringing Hitler up and using the same wordage and phrasings that Hitler used. You have to wonder why he does that because it seems calculated. My guess is he likes to appeal to that racially dividing itch that so many of his followers have.

I understand what the "slow down the rhetoric" thing was about. I just don't agree with it, regardless of people taking shots at Trump. And for what it's worth I'm not so much about thinking "that democracy and the constitution is going to end" or that he will "institute a fascist police state" if he gets elected - that's not my belief or real concern. The rhetoric I'm talking about is the very real and provable things he's done and words he has spoken that everyone around him manages to sweep under the rug. These things should continue to be shouted from the rooftops, not silenced in the name of some BS political correctness that Trump himself would never follow.

My concerns are not even so much for you suckers in America if Trump is re-elected, but more from a global perspective. I think his foreign policies are unsettling as a whole. He's on record as pro-Russia (well, certainly pro-Putin) and is a real risk of pulling the US out of NATO. He's a terrible leader of an Ally country from my perspective (and yeah, I'm actually remembering that he was president before here - what a genius I am to be able to do that) and he simply doesn't give a shit about any long term historical alliances/relationships.

Add on top his tariff boner for 100% of imported products and that affects the world economy and my own countries as a large exporter of goods to the US. I saw the effect on us here of the Chinese tariffs over the last 5 or 6 years and don't need to see more of the same from the US.

This shit all concerns me.

What words or phrases has he said that were so uniquely Hitleresque that you are now so convinced? That stupid shit the general (political appointee) said? Who cares?

All you are saying is that you are scared of his rhetoric or what he might do, while - again - forgetting that he was already president once.

His foreign policy was roughly the same as every president we've had, except being at least somewhat reluctant to get us into more foreign wars. And none of this is remotely fascist. He's the US president. No offense, but he has no obligation to do what's best for you or your interests. So basically what you're saying is that he's not actually a fascist, just that he won't act in what you think is your country's best interests, and if promoting the narrative that he's a fascist helps your preferred (foreign) candidate win the US election win, then so be it.

I've said this before, but to the extent Trump has any political ideology, he's a democrat 35 years ago (before you all went insane), but for the most part he's just a corrupt con artist and petty narcissist, which is infinitely less harmful than both actual fascists and the current ideologues in the rapidly rotting current admin. The first thing he did last time was get rid of the rightwing ideologues like Bannon, hire a bunch of yes men and brownnosers, and then did whatever petty shit he wanted. He's not Hitler because Hitler had a worldview and a plan lol. Trump is a glorified common criminal.

If he were smart, he wouldn't make the same mistake again - I'd go to war - but I doubt he's that smart.

Trump has said many things to incite hatred of ethnic minorities and immigrants. Calling them "vermin", saying they are "poisoning the blood of the country" (which is a direct Hitler quote), let alone:

Image

As an aside, asking for specific quotes and then pre-disallowing the stuff from John Kelly as "who cares" is kinda telling Burt.
BurtReynolds wrote:All you are saying is that you are scared of his rhetoric or what he might do, while - again - forgetting that he was already president once.
*past experience is not a reliable indicator of future performance

I get that he was president previously. He worked hard to surround himself with sycophants and tried to do so much to effectively be treated as he felt he should be - the sole and final power with unquestioning support and loyalty. Now though he's set up with a whole slew of like-minded power trippers, setting things up behind the scenes to ensure he effectively gets that sort of a result if he's back in power again.

The stated goals and processes of Project 2025 are set up to do exactly that, if not for Trump specifically, then absolutely for long term Republican rule. Add in your (US) ridiculous lack of separation between the judiciary and the government and you get the situation where SCOTUS hands him effectively unbridled power to do whatever he wants, so long as its within the constraints of "official acts". That seriously doesn't concern you, even a little bit?
BurtReynolds wrote:His foreign policy was roughly the same as every president we've had, except being at least somewhat reluctant to get us into more foreign wars. I appreciate that the US president's first and foremost requirement is to look after the good old US of A, as it should be. But to think that the President of the US doesn't have a serious obligation to foreign policy and overall world stability is disingenuous at the least.

I appreciate that he could care less about Australia's position in all this, but surely you concede that I can have an opinion on that. And as a global citizen don't you care about these things as well? Or are you only concerned about your personal tax cuts and what happens in front of your own nose? I have a son at conscription age and a nephew in the armed forces. International stability is a big point for me and I don't believe Trump gives two fucks about it.

Add in his position on Russia and Ukraine, and factor in my own Baltic heritage (Lithuania only extracted itself from Russian rule in 1990) and you must at least accept my position on this. My parents and grandparents fought too hard for their independence and deserve the leader of the free world to at least pretend he has their back. Because if Putin is allowed to run rampant then he'll be coming for the Baltic states next. I appreciate they are in NATO these days but here's Trump literally threatening to withdraw the US, and that would have potentially devastating consequences.

But overall my main thing is his absolute lack of the most basic moral and ethical traits that should be a base requirement for the position. I don't need to point out specific examples of those for you now do I? I appreciate politicians are generally shit as a whole, but historically those in the highest positions in the free world are at least able to fake these traits. Not Trump though. He's made it just fine to be an irredeemable shitstain of a human and actually get rewarded for it. He hasn't done that alone, but he has absolutely been the catalyst for the smarter people in the back of the room to ensure they get theirs through him and his simple motivator - what's in it for me?

I've gone on long enough here already, but you don't believe he's truly a fascist? Here's the definition of fascist and instead of my pointing out which parts Trump fits, how about you instead point out which parts he doesn't:

"a populist political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual, that is associated with a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, and that is characterized by severe economic and social regimentation and by forcible suppression of opposition"

There was a lot of revelations yesterday, but for your own sanity take a cautious approach to this and ask “what evidence is there is this real?” and “Am I fooling myself because I want this to be real?”. The technique of “Flooding the channel” or providing so much data and once that it cannot be rebutted is one of the most powerful methods of disinformation:

https://www.cisa.gov/sites/default/file ... on_508.pdf

For example, do you really believe a story tying Trump to Jeffrey Epstein where they had a sexual assault contest between them would remain secret in 2016, 2020, throughout the Epstein investigations and organically surface 11 days before the election and the same moment a full page in the NYT would come from “Survivors for Kamala” reminding readers of past allegations against Trump and rumors of a story about a video of him assaulting a minor circulates? I am not saying it isn’t true, just that it’s unprecedentedly lucky timing for Harris campaign
