I got so used to the video version, it is taking me a little time to enjoy this version as much.
Yeah it's different, the video was a live take.
I really prefer that take. From Mike's tone to the lack of that droning sound that BoB is adding.

Am I the only one? I wonder if it is just me being used to the other take.

Not alone. I think most here have preferred the video version. I do too. Mike sounds so much better in it.

Personally I think the pluses of the studio version outweigh the pluses of the live one. There's certainly more guitar in the live take, but I don't like Matt's drum intro at all, it's out of time, and I think other things are rusty. I'm ashamed to say that BoB's piano performance here is better than Boom's on the video. The delay on Mike's siren-like solo doesn't clash with the drums on the studio version. And I really like Stone's reverby sliding guitars and Mike's twelve-string. The studio track is more awash with atmosphere, which some won't like but I do.

I wish I could like it but for me there's just no embracing such an unapologetic power ballad. I can't stop hearing it as Night Ranger, even as I know that's unfair.

I've come to prefer the studio version as well, largely for the atmosphere

Pearl Jam would be on the shortlist of "Bands I least want to be listening to while balls deep in someone."

And don't worry, when my time traveling future self showed up with a copy of album #11 the other day I made sure he gave me some context so I better understand the circumstances under which the album was made and released. I'll make sure to pass all of this information on in my review.

This is going to be horrible and cheesy and maybe gay (sorry dime) but:

This song makes me crave for something in my life that I love so much...

For realz. It's not at all what I was expecting from all the discussion about it. I'm a big fan. Listening to it right now for the third time and I'm all aflutter.

I've kind of lost it since getting the remaining tracks but I played it a lot since it's been released.
