I had to work today, so I didn't get out for RSD.

But last night I did receive two super amazing goodies in the mail.

Home and Taking the Long Way by the Dixie Chicks.

Two of my all time favorite records by one of my favorite bands. So thrilled to have them on wax, finally. Especially Home, which sounds like it should only ever be listened to on vinyl. :luv: :luv: :luv:

I grabbed a Will Johnson split 7'' that I didn't know existed, which was fun! I'm going to get the Jason Molina 7" in the mail in a few weeks; I contributed to an IndieGoGo campaign for it two years ago that went belly up, so the record company is sending copies to us all for nothing. Besides that, I wasn't interested in many special releases (and I've spent lots of money the past few weeks anyways).

Wrecking Ball would of been nice pickup, I forgot all about that one. I just went full bourgeois and paid a little extra online for the stuff I really wanted, The Molina 7 and The Dead box set. Worth every penny to save me the hastle of having to deal with the hordes of insufferable dorks.

I'll probably go to some actual stores tomorrow out in Greenpoint. Theres a really cool Brazilian pop up record shop/party thing happening this weekend. Figure it'll be worth the trip. And next week the Numero pop up comes to town, can't wait for that one.

Did that DJ Screw 3 'N The Morning picture disc reissue make it to stores outside of Texas? I missed RSD and I'm pretty bummed I couldn't buy that one. I'll pay $$ and B&P for anyone who wants to grab a copy and mail it to me.

I don't think that was an RSD thing. Shit, I saw the site a few weeks ago where you could order them. I'd get one but fuck picture discs. If I can find the link, I'll put it up here, nawhatimsayin.

Yeah. I don't care one bit about the picture disc. I just want to spin it. Saw my local record store posting pics of the product on instagram yesterday and just assumed it was an official RSD release. I'll look around tomorrow for leftovers.

Can you believe, until like two years ago I could still go to the original Screwed Up Records & Tapes on Cullen Blvd. It's kind of crazy to think about how much music was sold through that place without any sort of serious industry resources or support.

i'm in kansas city for work so this is the first year since the inception of rsd that i've missed. i should have phish, emmylou, and the requiem for a dream sdtk waiting for me when i get home. this was a light year, thankfully. i did miss getting around town and taking in the event, but not the crowds.

There were a number of copies of Hoist at the store I visited; seems like the price tag scared people off.

That was such a sad RSD. Only really interested in two items. Brian Fallon was sold out and White Stripes never made stock. Still picked up a few items as everything was 10% off.

The Cure - Disintegration
Courntey Barnett - Split Pea ep
Explosions in the Sky - The Wilderness

For whoever was looking for J Dilla, it's up on srcvinyl.ca.

Picked up Ziggy Stardust last night for $5 bc I had a filled customer purchase card at the store. Pumped.

The big win of the night though came from my stumbling across an album I adored in college, but never saw in the wild. Departure Lounge "Jetlag Dreams". Found it for $15. I grabbed it without hesitation, then looked it up. The sticker claimed it was the first time on vinyl, and it was apparently a RSD release? I never saw it on a list. After some looking, it was a apparently a European RSD release, and for some random reason this store had a couple of copies. They had them on sale so maybe they got them by mistake? Either way, only 500 pressed. I can't wait to spin this, I haven't heard it in a solid 12 years

NYC Folks, best record fair of the year is tomorrow in Greenpoint. WFMU's annual blow out! Always fun.
