Wikipedia claims Matchbox Twenty's debut album is post grunge. They label Mumford and Sons debut as Indie Folk/Folk Rock.
This explains why I find Matchbox Twenty easier to take.

Basically newer bands(formed after 1999) have had nothing to rebel against when simply considering the music world: "Alternative" music has been in the mainstream as long as they have been listening to music. Ian Svenonius wrote an article about this.

You mean rebelling against political/social injustices, or just rebelling against safe-sounding music?
This new Bon Iver album is tickling me in the right spots.

About five listens in it started to take hold. Now it's firmly got me hooked.

There are few combinations of words that excite me less in 2016 than "Rolling Stones blues covers album".

There was a VHS tape I got from Spin magazine back in 1994 or 1995 that had all banned videos on it. There was the Meat Puppets and "Backwater", there was Soundgarden with "Gun" with the Jim Rose Circus, Beastie Boys and "Sabotage", Wool and "Kill the Crow", James and "Laid". Lots of songs, it really helped me find some music considering how terrible the local stations I had to listen to were.
The weird thing is that I can't find hide nor hair of this thing on the internet. I can't figure out why, you'd think it'd be somewhere considering the bands involved.
