I'm sorry, I respect your opinions, but, other than personal desire to see him, what could possibly lead anyone watching this show to think that Luke Skywalker was showing up? How, and, more importantly, why?

Yep, that's what I was thinking. The Mandalorian kinda took a backseat in this ep, while not a bad thing, just not my cup of tea.

He’s the only Jedi in the entire galaxy that *we* know of.
Ahsokas speech suggests there are more.
But they aren’t going to throw a new Jedi we’ve never met or have previously met into the mix, other than him.
Ezra is off the table I reckon. He’s nothing even nearly as qualified to take the child last we’ve seen him. So unless he’s found some Jedi master and trained up he can’t really be involved.

I just don't see a world 5 years after ROTJ that Ahsoka doesn't know that Luke Skywalker, the son of Darth Vader, struck down the emperor and Darth Vader and helped defeat the empire.

it would be weird for any other jedi to be a part of this moving forward.

the Story/show doesn't need Luke Skywalker to actually appear. Im fine with that not happening, but to not have Luke as part of this story moving forward would not seem right to me.

Thats actually a really awful responde. Mando doesnt take place prior to whatever happened in the cartoons.

There's no doubt in my mind that she's obviously aware of who Luke Skywalker is and what he's done; I'm in no way arguing that, but, it's an entirely different proposition to suggest that he'll show up or even somehow be involved.

It's one thing to have beloved characters from the extended universe and various animated series' show up to set up potential spin-offs/further stories.
These characters are likely to still be largely unknown to huge swaths of the larger fanbase.

If you restrict it to a mere mention of Luke Skywalker, by name, how could you you possibly get away with not showing him? If you elect to physically show him onscreen and put Luke on this show, you might as well end it and change the name.

It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever, and creates far more trouble than its worth, IMO.

I'm not even sure what having him involved and not showing him means.

It depends on the storytelling and what you need. Of course you can mention him and not show him at all. The same with Vader or Yoda. If you need those characters to appear, then you must have them.

This is a tricky timeline not to mess with the character from the OT tough.

You're right. They've already tied this to two of their properties.

We're probably good until Mando meets R2 and 3PO or finds Baby Kaz from Resistance.

Ah, but Vader & Yoda are dead at this moment in the timeline. No worries about cries for cameos & potential re-casts.

Young Master Skywalker is alive & well at our current point in the timeline. A mere mention sets off ridiculous fan expectation/anticipation.
Too much potential uphill struggle there.

For what it's worth, I don't care to see any Jedi in the show, personally, but, for reference, Kanan Jarrus was a previously unknown survivor of Order 66, for those who say that introducing a new Jedi to the story would be an impossibility.

ey, they can introduce whataver they want. They even brought Palps back!! But we are on a timeline thats pretty hard not to cross path with Luke, Leia or Han.

And they seem to hint about him anyway.

I’m not so sure Luke is such a well known entity throughout the galaxy at this point. It’s only 5 years after Vader and the Emperor died. Sure, Ahsoka is probably aware of him in the sense that she keeps tabs on all Jedi-related stuff, but it’s not like he’s a galaxy wide celebrity during this time. Most people probably still think the Jedi are some kind of fantasy beings like unicorns.

This is probably my major complaint I have with this series.

I sort of love the basic format. 30-45 minutes is enough to explore a new locale, introduce a new character or alien race, and give Mando something to do.

Also agree yeah. The galaxy is so fucking huge, its going to take years. Besides we dont really know what they said about it...in TFA it seems everything that happened with Luke is sort of a mythos/legend.
