for me that would've pulled me right out of the chill vibes of the last half; I can see the argument for having one more "rock" song there but idk, it's so organic that the synth funk would be a turn off for me

the only song i compared it to was "in my tree", which is more about the feeling that pearl jam did something totally new. DTE is super catchy, but right in pearl jam's wheelhouse. NAIS is a good comparison, but i still think DOTC is more out there for pj.

i think this makes sense thematically where it is, and flows beautifully. the sequencing issue, such as it is, is that the album closes with 4 slower songs and has two closers in a row. since comes then goes and buckle up could fit in anywhere you could try playing around with mixing them up with Never Destination and Take the Long Way. Those 4 songs could appear in any order. The first 6 songs are perfectly sequenced to set up themes and tell a story- and they flow really well into one another to boot

I think I kinda like the two closers in a row thing? River Cross feels kind of like an encore

I agree with the person who said "Comes Then Goes" could also close it lol, so there's potentially three closers

eh, I'm OK with vaguely upbeat side A then chill side B

I love the album so much i always forget about this one, and its one of the best for sure.

Totally agree about the first six tracks.

Just your regular reminder that this is the best song they've made since 2002 (or earlier). Kind of got lost in the excitement of the other tracks.

More and more...this one is becoming a skippable track for me. It's fine, but surprisingly, there's so much more to the record that's a lot better.

It's a very good song. This isn't a knock on DOTC, but, if you're including songs from Riot Act, then I'd disagree. There's several on that album I'd pick over it. And, I find it on par with my favorites from S/T.

I disagree. I think it needs to be early to convince people to pay attention to the album. If you just listen to the first two tracks you might not be that impressed, but DOTC comes on right after and convinces you there might be more worth listening to. I think the album sorely needs it at that point unless you shuffle more things around.
