The funniest thing about this song is not that the guitars are mixed way low in the mix. It's that Matt is smashing a crash cymbal all the way through the choruses, and that's in the background as well

Yup. This rocked a little harder live. The difference isn't as stark as Infallible but it's there.

Yup.
Listening to it this morning, walking around the city before heading into work, really had me choked up. I'm not sure what this song is doing, but it's doing it all the way and it's working.

After seeing the youtube videos I'm actually curious to hear some HQ live versions. When the performances are good enough the live recordings of this songs could have the organic feel B'OB nearly took out of them. It was hard for me to hear anything clearly besides Ed's vocals but those vocals indicate he's perfectly capable of delivering usable vocals in 2*10 days or for however long he said the recording of LB lasted. The biggest issue was the "loss of focus" on the LB chorus when he was looking at his guitar. I mean even some minor imperfection left in would benefit rather then hurt these songs.

When he sings YM sitting down turning around all the fucking time without missing a bit made me really wish he had enough of an ego to talk about his vocals and the recording process even if it meant just bragging. RM actually made me underestimate him lately but I'm more and more convinced that he being the singer he is is what allows PJ to be as eclectic as they are especially on this album.

I think that for better or worse, there would probably be no Pearl Jam without Ed. He's always been most of what represented Pearl Jam in my eyes. I love the rest of the other musicians but they're secondary; it's probably all I agree with BoB on. That of course means that if Ed seems to have dropped the ball, the whole thing is let down, whether that be vocally, musically or just in terms of leadership and organisation. I know he fixes songs and I know he "leads" the band in practical ways. That's not something that's about to change. But some of the decisions I felt he was influencing during the Backspacer era were scaring the shit out of me. If BoB is a problem, I'm fairly sure it's because Ed lets him be.

it's because the band let's him or possibly because he took over what were Ed's responsibilities for a while, i honestly have no idea.
