So what was the Mike Richards "breach of contract"? The only rumour I heard was that it was something that happened at the border and presumably right before the draft.

Nothing worse than a player who's been on Philly and Boston. Hello Kenny Linseman.
A THIRD rounder for Rinaldo? If I were a Bruins fan, I would be terrified at the direction Sweeney is taking this team.
Or as Boston sports radio put it, a third rounder for a guy who was a sixth round pick who hasn't even lived up to that pedigree

He hasn't been perfect, but it's really looking like Jim Benning was at least half of the brains in Boston, and I'm thrilled Vancouver got him

Hamilton signs 6 year $34.5m deal with Calgary, makes Sweeney look even dumber.

He did just balance out some of the terribleness by flipping Jones to San Jose for a 1st.

That was a good deal, but it doesn't help the team this year(yet.)

FWIW, the Bruins are spinning it that they offered Hamilton 5.5 and he demanded 7. They are basically saying Hamilton demanded a trade.

I thought I saw somewhere that he got caught with drugs (coke?) at the border.

Ditto.

Rumors were he had a $6.5m/yr offer sheet. No way the hawks could match that with Toews and Kane's new paydays.

TMZ says it was Oxycodone.

^^^^^^^SOUTHP BRUINS TALK ALERT^^^^^^^
Based on how things have played out since the Dougie trade, I think the Bs did the best they could. An offer sheet signing would have pushed the return out another year and been lesser picks, and matching would have saddled the cap and the team with a player that wanted extra to stay (rumor, but it seems clear based on his presser and new contract).

I have no idea why it took a 3rd for Rinaldo, but I like the Smith and Jones trades, as well as signing the "prize" of this year's UFA (quoted for sarcasm, at least it's not Clarkson $). Spooner's deal looks good, and I'm hopeful that Connelly and Hayes get similar $ (not bc I have any idea how they'll be for Claude, but bc it would be nice if every guy didn't get max $ and a NMC... hi, Peter C.). I'm also thinking they still need to sign the prospect they got from SJ for Jones.

I could be convinced that this is it for the offseason, but I wouldn't mind seeing one more sturdy Dman added to the current group.

I'm not completely horrified by the return. It's underwhelming, for sure, and the pick conditions bug me, but it made very little sense to keep him. I didn't expect that much more than what they got.

Green and Richards is better than we've done in FA in years.

If we're going to keep talking about the Bruins, let's not forget to mention how they're not going to be making the playoffs for a few years. Or let's talk about how the Maple Leafs will turn it around quicker than Boston.

right, bc the Mike Richards conversation was fascinating in its relivency to the Kings cup chances.
