Marketing, essentially. Overseas is big business now, there are piracy concerns in some places, studios avoid competing with each other as much as possible, buzz from other countries has an effect on American audiences, etc.

I don't know about other markets but in Latin America the buzz on these movies is so strong that exhibitors strike deals with worldwide distributors so that they foot the bill for the material costs of the concession stands-- the main source of revenue for exhibitors-- during the first five days in exchange for an early release, which is also why there are so many branded "value meals" that disappear after that period

I can't wait till we finally get to the point where movies get a digital release first and cinemas become luxury theatre-type experiences for people that want that.

I watched the trailer again, I still wasn't enthralled Probably still see this in the cinema though.

Someone made a good point about the quality of the cinematography in the trailers. Take out the music and dialogue and it looks like a war documentary.

Kinda high praise.

Word on the street is this is gonna be great.

So tickets aren't even available yet but certain US cinemas are taking bookings for private screenings for this.

I heard about how he got his break. Such a lucky guy. He was working in a marketing firm and they had the contract for one of the Jurassic park games but the demo had no music so he told his boss he plays around writing music so he let him ask the game company could he put some place holder music over the demo and they said yeah but don't get any ideas. So he wrote music to the contents of the demo and sent it back.

He's in work a few weeks later and the receptionist calls him and says you have to come down to the lobby, someone's here to meet you. He goes down and it's Spielberg. 'Are you the composer?' They go and have coffee and that was that.


As lucky/big breaks go it's a pretty seeet one

Here's a thought. What if that big fallen statue is actually a statue of Luke? Erected long ago as a dedication to the prophesy? But like him it's fallen from its purpose?

A statue to the one beings balance to the force. It's flat. It's balanced. Maybe it never fell but it was actually built and sculpted from mountains?

Yeah, I'm almost positive it's like Mt Rushmore and carved into a mountain range. Based on the size of the ship passing over it, I just can't see that it's a statue. Unless the thing flying over is supposed to be more like a drone or something.
