I don't think we're all going to start hating Binaural any time soon, boostip wrote:my goal is to be 20 years ahead of the RM reappraisal

do we have access to posts from back then? I honestly cannot remember when all this start... but I vaguely recall it was around riot act.VinylGuy wrote:Binaural was universally hated back then

of course no, and im not talking just RM, but pretty much PJ fanbase was really confused with Binaural.Bi_3 wrote:do we have access to posts from back then? Not I my RL! I loved Riot Act from day one and it's only gotten better with age.epilogue wrote:My memory is that IRL, PJ fans talked about Binaural as a dud... "the worst PJ record but still better than most other artist's albums!" But here on RM it was fairly lauded. As far as Riot Act goes, again my memory, is that it was universally bemoaned on RM and IRL.
If memory serves, this was the first thing you and I really bonded over.Kevin Davis wrote:Not I my RL! Some other PJ albums that I now love (No Code and Binaural especially) took some learnin', but Riot Act really spoke to me right out of the gate. Love that album so much.

My circles adored Vs. Vitalogy was definitely met with some resistance. No Code was largely dismissed. Yield was the big exception, though. And to a lesser extent, S/T.Kevin Davis wrote:With the exception of Gigaton, I think all of the PJ albums whose releases I recall were met with some level disappointment by my fan circles at the time. Even Vitalogy, which was the newest album when I became a fan, was looked upon by everyone I knew at the time as clearly the worst of the three.
