I love it. It's not as good as SOTL, but certainly better than Red Dragon and Hannibal Rising. Probably about on par with Manhunter.
That original aria written for the movie is some beautiful stuff.

Re: What movies are you watching?
Both Manhunter and Red Dragon are mid tier as well, although I think I would give a slight edge to Red Dragon. Have not seen Hannibal Rising yet.
SOTL is great.

Re: What movies are you watching?
I definitely prefer Red Dragon. Manhunter sucks so hard, though. Hannibal is way better than that.

Getting close to the end of Hannibal now. Not really enjoying it. Julianne Moore seems totally out of it.

Re: What movies are you watching?
I like elements of Red Dragon, including many performances, but it's so clumsily executed! It's very frustrating
The book is good too

If they had done a straight adaptation of the Hannibal novel, that would've been one for the ages. Some of the wildest shit I've ever read

Re: What movies are you watching?
The Avengers. This was probably my most enjoyable experience watching it for whatever reason, but I still think it's not good. The jokes and attempts at witticisms are forced and rarely land. The set pieces feel sterile and the action scenes generic. I do really enjoy Ruffalo as Banner.
I'll be nice and give it a 2 out of 4.
Also, can Loki just entrance anyone with that spear (sans Stark that one time)? Why doesn't he do it all the time?

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
