Happy to be included in this roundup even though I took six months off of posting so I could become even more insufferable.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

In 2021, I watched 288 movies that I'd never seen before (as an adult). That's only counting movies of at least 60 minutes or more, not shorts. I don't track re-watches, but I'd estimate that re-watches would get that number close to 300 for the year. I didn't do the calculations to compare this number to previous years and I don't have detailed enough records from before 2012 to do so even if I wanted to, but that's almost certainly my most ever in a single year.

OK, OK, I did the calculations. 2021 really blows previous years out of the water.
Between 2006 and 2012, I watched an average of ~185 features per year. This number is far from exact. I don't know exactly when I started tracking, but it was sometime in mid-2006, so that lost half year drags the average down. Unfortunately, I also don't have details about individual years. I did at one point, but I made a mistake in March of 2012 that lost them. I still know what I watched, just not when I watched them. I suspect that 2007-2009 when I was in college was up above 200 a year, but never reaching the 2021 record number.
Then from 2013 to 2021, this was the average number of features per year:
2013--- 160
2014--- 150
2015--- 136
2016--- 104
2017--- 132
2018--- 103
2019--- 83
2020--- 45
2021--- 288
So I've seen exactly 2,500 features. Wow, good timing for this post. Exactly 2,500 features

Jesus Argo, and here I thought my 155 including rewatches was a year of vigorous viewing.

I’ve seen 660 from my list this year, and a handful (5-10) from just seeing a random movie with friends or extended family, or some netflix movie I didn’t list.
