Appreciate the sleuthing. Sounds like a situation where the vinyl really may be the way to go.

‘and no one’s born to feel like they are owned’ is a great lyric

I like the sequence quite a bit. Longway moved to 12 may have been a better choice.

I like the sequencing and fully support Ed's "the special guests come out at the end" approach.Tj wrote:I like the sequence quite a bit. Longway moved to 12 may have been a better choice.

30 years into it Ed can still send chills down my spine with a focused delivery, his voice, and lyrics. Speaking particularly about the end of Brother the Cloud .
Shit.

It really ssomething. The Dark has that quality to me as well especially once I connected it to the "in the dark" lyric from Release.Strat wrote:30 years into it Ed can still send chills down my spine with a focused delivery, his voice, and lyrics. Youre probably right, but it doesn't feel like PJ have done a rocker this loose and rollicking since probably Save You. I love all the other ones you mentioned, but they're all a little more studio sterile than this one - funny, because this is probably the most produced album anybody from PJ has ever made.SJM wrote:I don’t think these posts are going to age well but to each their own!guitar_davey wrote:Yes.Tj wrote:Rose of Jericho is the best heavy rocker since Grievance.

Just off the top of my head. Rose of Jericho is fun for what is is even if it reminds me of two guys kicking each other in the nuts.

I would describe GSMF as loose and rollicking as well SBWM. I think a Mike solo ala SBWM would have added to Rose of Jericho, but it great how it is.Should had Flea sit in on that as well may add a trumpet.guitar_davey wrote:Youre probably right, but it doesn't feel like PJ have done a rocker this loose and rollicking since probably Save You. Re: Eddie Vedder - Earthling
Yeah this album is much better than what I expected, and the first two singles are the worst two songs on this album.
And this is pretty much how I felt after the first listen, well said daft twat:

I would also argue that the reason why the compositions are as good they are is because Ed didn't write the songs by himself, but had Watt and the rest of the band there to help him.daft twat wrote:Maybe my expectations are low, but this is exactly the kind of record I’d expect from a man pushing 60 who has lived a good life. Pearl Jam has been an important part of over half of my life, and Eddie is the main reason for that. This may sound fucking weird, but his obvious happiness in this collection of songs makes my enjoyment of the album that much greater because I’m so happy for him. Yeah, he’s a pretentious Have a lot of the time, but I really dig that the angsty young man I felt a connection with has become a happy old dad enjoying the fruits of a life well-lived. At this stage in my life, I’ll probably listen to this record more going forward than the PJ albums I adore.

Wow this is cool Elton singing ya leading into that solo. This elevates the song. It is my least favorite song but hearing this improved it alot. My complaint was it was a bit boring. So a big pay off at the end is cool. Mike must love that.guitar_davey wrote:Jaeti wrote:Whoever mentioned the piano solo in Picture kind of mimicking McCready's Alive solo, I can hear it.
