I can’t believe how godawful this was. I’d rather watch Old.

Disaster Artist - Fantastic
This is the end- Fantastic
Superbad - super bad (did not age well at all)
Lebowski - Even better than fantastic.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Props to Maggie Gyllenhaal for The Lost Daughter. It's very good. It didn't seem to me like the kind of movie I'd be into, but I totally was. Never overwrought, well acted, tense throughout, and very engaging. Big props to Maggie Gyllenhaal for making this as good as it was. Even after watching it, it still feels like a movie I shouldn't have been into. But, yeah, wow, good movie

Fincher version?
Yeah, in certain ways it feels like a dry run for Zodiac but a really fun movie nonetheless.

Yeah this is my sense of Superbad (I re-watched it last year). The movie's rejection of what could broadly be called rape culture is nice but the rampant and casual homophobia of the mid 00s that it displays was so much worse than I remembered. And a good portion of it was simply not that funny. The Tiananman Square dick in the credits still worked for me though..
