Like I LOVE Pearl Jam's slow songs. I think Release is one of their greatest songs, and that Black and Elderly Woman are also up there as well. I love All or None. I love Thumbing My Way. I even kind of really like Nothingman.

And then eddie yells a little for some reason and then its back to that same note over and over and over again and its like the song never goes anywhere at all and its like END ALREADY but it goes on FOREVER

It's not an all-time favorite but I get the appeal. The repeated D chord is essentially a drone atop which the band can provide interesting harmonic flourishes and Ed sings a nice melody. It builds up to some nice moments of emotional release. Speaking of, it's similar to "Release" in that regard... also a D-chord droney song. (for the record, "Long Road" has more chords than "Release")

I hadn't listened to the studio version of "Long Road" in forever. I had forgotten all about that organ. Very nice.

I agree I Got Shit is pretty bad too to be honest. I do like the one part though where he goes "AND I FIGHT BACK IN MY MIIIIIND" etc, up until the chorus starts, which is one part more than I like from Long Road.

Breath though...great song.

Long Road maybe could have been pretty good if it was like a little 1 minute 30 second interlude on an album. Actually that could be pretty cool! Just take the first minute and 30 seconds. It would be better than the inserts on Vitalogy. Just the intro, the first verse, go back to the drone, and then slowly fade back out.

Now Im starting to like that idea, but the 5+ minute album version is like X_X and its the worst concert opener Ive ever heard them do on boots, its just so boring.

Droney D chords do things for me.

I like drones, and in the right circumstances I can find Long Road pretty moving, but it's a more subtle song than say, Release, which means its less likely I'll be in the right mood.
