I listened to their entire catalog last Thanksgiving when I read their book.

Then I did it again last month when I listened to the audiobook.
I just don't get this level of interest in them...this reminds of how a bunch of people in my high school were obsessed with RHCP and raved about Kiedis's autobiography
I'm not sure it was a major commitment to listen to 8 albums in my car. But whatever, I was enjoying hearing new stuff after learning how they made the albums and what they liked about them.

I never bought into the Beastie Boys in the 90's. They seemed a bit silly. But I'm so glad I got that book. It opened my ears to a whole bunch of music. Hello Nasty has such a great mix tape vibe in the traditional sense of the word not the hip hip sense.

I liked the one pictured above. The others are worth a listen on Spotify, but not worth $$. Maybe if they put these out on vinyl.

I think it has some of the best pure rapping of their career. The Bush stuff is dated, but there is some great shit on there. Crawlspace > Brouhaha is one of my favorite 1-2 punches on any Beasties album. Also the beats & production are great.

I know I'm in the minority loving the album, and it also has to do with the time in my life that it came out. A great summer.

Crazy that this was the follow-up to Hello Nasty.

yeah, i guess for me the Beasties were Check Your Head and Ill Communication. It took me a while to get interested in Hello Nasty too. But weirdly i got into Hot Sauce right away.

I'm a fan of To the 5 Boroughs, but only recently. The minimalism is the appeal to me. I'd never say that I was burned out on the"classic Beasties albums, but sometimes an album full of what they were tapping into with the Three MC's... detour on Hello Nasty hits the spot.

It's got a lot of headphone power on neighborhood walks.

I love "To the 5 Boroughs." It really got me back into the Beasties after not listening to them for a long time. Feels insane to think that was fifteen years ago.

One of the cheesiest things I've ever done in my life was to put on "An Open Letter to NYC" on my final morning walk around Brooklyn before the vacation ended, but dammit if the verses didn't feel like a satisfactory ending to my brief visit.

And thanks to their great book I was reading when I was there, I understood the line "running home after school to play PIX" for the first time!

It's not my favorite, but it's on my "to buy on vinyl" list. I have PB and IC already.
