The Last of Us Part II

I just started this game for the first time today. I’m having a nice time.

I’m a Nintendo guy. The only exception was I bought an original Xbox and played GTA: Vice City, Ninja Gaiden, and a couple Hitman games. A couple years ago, my kids went to visit grandparents for a week after Christmas, and I decided to borrow the PS4 to play Last of Us before the tv show came out. It blew me away. I was so enamored with it, that I immediately played through the entire game again. I’ve been meaning to play part 2 since then. I knew two things about it: 1) Joel died 2) Even though I had no foot in the universe, I knew a lot of people hated the story like it was The Last Jedi.

I just finished part 2. Holy fucking shit! This game is incredible. I enjoyed it way more than the first game. Not even close, actually. That said, I have zero desire to play it again right now. It’s so much longer than the first, for a start, but it’s also so much more emotionally taxing.

The sequence where Jesse shows up and you get in the car with him and start shooting while he drives was my favorite of the game because it was so sudden and so exhilarating.

The ending fight with Abby made me feel something I’ve never felt in a video game before. You know how when a runner grabs you, you have to start tapping the square button rapidly to break free? I assumed I’d have to do that to drown Abby, and I literally let go of the controller. I wanted nothing to do with it.

I don’t know what part 3 will be about. I assume it will see Ellie’s story and life come to an end, probably saving Dina and her family. I don’t think Abby and Lev’s story needs continuation.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I actually think they have ample room to expand on the two-dimensional Seraphs.

Agreed — I expect/hope the Prophet will get some screen time that helps emphasize how her movement was co-opted by extremists.

I would love it if they do but hard to imagine them taking that much of a risk (ie. sidelining their main character for an extended period of time).

Upgraded my plus and just started the remastered pt 2 chronologically version
Boy it looks gorgeous, and the ps4 version was already good looking
