Based on early reporting, this might have (almost) went down. AI safety/ deceleration won out over progress.
This is sounding more correct now. Unbelievably short-sighted as now they will have no control when a Meta/Google/Amazon drops $10B and swoops all the folks leaving up into a org without fedora wearing clowns holding it back.
