It's all the rage in setlist creation this year.

You can’t put all these requirements on having kids when the birth rate is already cratering. Bet you guys would change your tune if you spent some time thinking about what life would look like in retirement with no young people to keep society afloat.

Restricting rights to have children would improve society and save gazillion dollars with less crime, better education, better citizens, etc.

This reminds me of the book I’m reading on the history of Alaska, where Russian “settlers” left all the native females on one particular island and took all the males to another place as slaves to hunt otters for their pelts.

They didn’t actually kill anyone but wiped out that particular tribe/race by cutting off reproduction. Oh and the women all starved because they weren’t skilled hunters.

Yeah, why would anyone object to eugenics? It's what planned parenthood was found on after all!

Eugenics is one thing, preventing horrible, irresponsible people from torturing and neglecting children is another.

Is there some sort of blood test that can be done to determine who will and won’t be a good parent Mr God Tree?

Children need some things, and if parents are unable to provide those things, why are they having a baby? And then society has to pick up the tab. Reminds me of that George Carlin bit, about how conservatives care about the baby until it's born, then they want nothing to do with it until it reaches military age

Who makes these determinations? Who does the preventing?

Like Bammer said, just the basics. Be a sane person with means to raise a child, and actually intend on being a good parent. That is enough to make a big difference.

So who gets to decide all that? Birth panel?

It cannot be that difficult to create a baseline test to weed out most of the scum

I want to make it clear that I only agree with tree in principle. I would never trust the US government (or any government) to implement such a system.

I would probably trust Jean-Luc Picard, but unfortunately he's not real.

So we can’t discriminate against anyone anywhere else in society, including crime, but we’re allowed to have birth panels?

Oh, I don't expect this to happen, and I agree with Tommy I wouldn't trust our government. But one can dream.
