I might end up becoming obsessed with this song. It's the one that requires the most repeated listens.

It's my current obsession.

Easily better than the opening song on the last two albums. Not sure it’s better than Life Wasted.

Loved it since I first heard it, shame the album goes downhill afterwards!

the only thing I can compare the loose, live, meandering feel of this middle 8 to is "Corduroy", my favourite PJ song

I'm a huge Avocado fan and I love Life Wasted. I think this song is way better.

I'm still not wild about that synth melody that pops up... once I think?

It's my first favourite wrinkle of the entire album, so it's huge for me. I like that they squeezed in a little new wave nod without the rest of the song being that. It really hits my proverbial feels for some reason.

Same. the lighter/poppier elements of the song (including the chorus) hold it back a bit for me. I love the rest

Does anybody else here fucking love this part of this song as much as I do?

Anybody?

I almost feel like, if they were gonna chuck this sound in, they may as well have done a full on 60s-sounding solo with it later on; it just does its widdly thing once, then disappears again, comes then goes

I moved this up to 5 stars for me. I love the lyrics and I think it may be Ed’s most powerful performance on the record. It’s just fantastic.

It’s got my ventricles pumping, working overtime.

I like the matter of fact thud in this lyric:

It’s all in the delivery
Said the messenger who is now dead

Maybe I’ll agree once I hear the album in full quality.

You’re sounding like someone who’s given up on satisfaction.
