NOTHING on the last two albums sounded anything like that, but this is the song that IMO it sounds most like in the discography which is crazy to me

It sounds MUCH more like their old stuff than any other album in the last couple (this song at least). This song sounds much more like 1994 Pearl Jam than it does like 2010 Pearl Jam (on the album) which is awesome IMO

IMO, It sounds different than both the last couple albums and the early stuff. But yes, it’s a massive improvement in sound over at least the last three albums.

The album overall doesn’t really strike me as super political or environmental like I thought it would be (certainly not when compared to RA or ST). Themes seem to be much more universal (loneliness, disappointment and pushing on despite those things) which just makes ham fisted name dropping seem more out of place. Also not a fan of the last verse of River Cross for the same reason.

Yeah, that’s kind of how I’m feeling about it now. The name drop doesn’t make or break this song for me. I get it. He doesn’t like trump. Same.

The good thing is most of this album is about keeping your hope. It’s going to be okay as long as you keep putting good into things, and sweep your side of the street.

The Trump sentence is in past tense, so it's not really 'dated'.
