i totally get why even die hard fans are having trouble with this one. EP 1 went from a great sequence at the beginning to then deliver one of the worst paced episodes of SW.
I might return to this one later because of when its happening in the timeline but yikes, that first one was boring.

Listening to various people talk about the show has made me WANT to like it even more. I love the ideas and the themes and the wonderful little nuggets that people are mining from it. Very excited to see where we're headed....

The thing about the way that these eps end is that, it SHOULD work better than it does. Again, I like the idea. Wrap up the story and then give a sort of "next time on..." tease. If that's how all of these end, I'll be okay with it, I think, ultimately. I'm already starting to like it more as I think about it and live with it.
But at this point it'll almost be a bummer if they stop doing that?

"Star Wars for the CW" is a painful insult.

The CW has had some great shit. Jane The Virgin is an all timer. And for four seasons Riverdale was aces! I heard it ended strong too but I still haven't watched the last two seasons.

I've watched a lot of CW stuff. Star Wars should be better.
Especially on a $200mil budget.

I don’t know how much it cost but it does look very cheap and small.

8 episodes of Acolyte = $180 million
20sih episides of The Flash = $50 million

There's gotta be some massive embezzlement going on at Disney. The money is clearly not going to the actual creators, and the products look terrible, but the budgets are still insanely high.

yeah, looks bad for a 180M price tag. At the same time thats gotta be pocket money for them at this point right?
but everything on the volume looked awfully light. They had this issue with a lot of Marvel movies too, but at least the makeup was alright, the pilot of this series was awful in that department.

We should pin this somewhere.
Guys.
Disney don’t make Star Wars.
Lucasfilm makes Star Wars.
Disney just distributes it.
The end.

Disney has $6 billion counterpoints to your argument.

yeah, they own SW.
Maybe LF are the ones who creatively take care of the IP but its a Disney joint for sure. Its not like i dont know...a small studio makes a movie and then Universal buy is and distributes it or a small film is bought by A24 or something..nope.

I'm not writing this off yet, as it's only been 2 episodes. I think the time period and where it can go might be super fascinating.
Who is writing this, though? is Filoni still behind the scenes mapping this all out? Is he confiding in Lucas to help him navigate the beginning of the sith? I must know.
Filoni is definitely not in the credits.
Created and Directed by Leslye Headland (creator of Russian Doll)
She wrote the first episode. The second was written by Jason Micallef and Charmaine DeGrate, neither of which I've ever heard of before.

Yeah I haven’t seen ep 2 but I might jump back to this one because of the timeline and if there is a huge shock twist like Plagueis

Episode 3 - DESTINY
I liked this episode better than the first 2.
I’m not sure what the controversy was tbh. A lesbian couple ?? Another dogma on the force ??
Either way a lot more questions than answers.

There aren't lesbians in Star Wars.
