Me either, and I find the song super boring either way.
That's not surprising - it's a song whose power is almost entirely translated through its lyrics. Just like it wouldn't be surprising that a song whose principle feature is perhaps an odd time signature (one of the things I care least about) would do nothing.

Isn’t Dave Grohl a drummer? Weren’t Layne Staley and Chris Cornell drummers?

Stip, what does that mean?
It's probably more a comment on the type of drummer matt is, and how that is often reflected in the songs he writes. There is a clipped precision to them, and I cannot escape the feeling that the time signature of the song is its most important feature. Time keeping feels like an important part of his guitar playing, as well.

It's possible that's not correct, but it's how I hear/experience his writing. And it's very different from the style of the rest of the band. It's why I like him as a drummer - I generally like the tightness and precision he brings

I think:

"Weird voice" in Stone's new song is him doing a Chris Cornell impression.

Someone suggested that more people should sing. I agree as far back as No Code/Yield. Should have been more lead vox by other peeps peppered in over the years. I think that Backspacer and Lightning Bolt would have felt fuller with Jeff and Stone singing songs like No Code/Yield, with Matt filling out the choir and taking on a song of his own.
Save those for the B-Sides. No disrespect to Jeff/Stone/Matt, as they're fine singers, but pining for Pearl Jam songs without Eddie singing sounds crazy to me.

I'm in no rush to hear Mankind or Whale Song or Don't Gimmie No Lip anytime soon.

I wish they would write a lot more, but I'm with you. No desire to hear them sing on an album

Both Stone and Jeff´s are must. Jeff is under the name of Deaf Charlie.

Also, The Postal Service, Guided by Voiced, Calexico, Girlpool, Chicano Batman, Phantogram, Big boi, Mark Ronson´s 007 demo and Feist are super strong.

Havent finished the whole thing.

i'd take a shared, corin-carrie/sleater-kinney-style, vocal trade-off kind of thing.. that could be cool

but only with matt as the 2nd voice, since he's the only one who can sing

For me this clocks in around the 3.5 star range -- love the songwriting, it's MC to the core, but there is a middle-of-the-road-PJ vibe to the recording that holds it back ever so slightly for me. But I am rounding up to 4 stars in the poll just because I want to live in a world where PJ regularly releases 3.5-star-quality rarities again.

Other than "Ole" and "Can't Deny Me," have Pearl Jam released any original songs as B-sides/rarities/one-offs since Riot Act?

The Stone song is cool too. The Deaf Charlie thing is hideous.

Perhaps the initial post could be updated with a proper video link.

Yeah that ending is great. I think my favorite thing about the Stone song is his radically better singing.

Anyone able to send a link for this?
I randomly heard it on Sirius on Friday whilst driving but had no idea what it was or that it was only available for one day, haha.
Thanks.

Not officially - we did get those unreleased ST tracks though
