I cant help but think this sounds pretty cool. it does sound Led Zeppelin. Who said Led Zeppelin? you win the prize. the rest of you are terribly wrong in every way.

Much prefer the Zeppelin influence vs. the punk.

The clip sounds cool, but impossible to know for certain.

I like that it sounds like nothing in their catalog to me. Its seems well structured and seems like there's layers and a nice build up. It does sound heavier than amy of their slower songs that we've heard in a long time. Lately their slower stuff has been very tame and clean. This seems grittier. I really hope they play it tomorrow and someone YouTube's it. But for now I'll keep listening trying to decipher more of the song.
First real post on here, so feel free to laugh, scorn, and mock for initiation rites. But, 4 songs came to mind with this:

Garden - for the heavy, dare I say "grungy" feel
Sleight of Hand - for the searching guitar parts
In Hiding - for the joyful resolution (making this sound like a happily resolved Sleight of Hand)
Gone - for the key changes throughout

It's as if those 4 collided and landed on S/T.

welcome to the board :)

Well I finally heard this a minute ago it is hard not to get my hopes up, but I really hear something here. So far I am feeling a ominous album. I think it will be their darkest by far much darker than Riot Act. S/T pointed fingers. I think this album will take fingers hack them off and make smoothies. I feel with all this darkness there will be triumph and hope that resonates through the album as well.
All these thoughts from one single and a sound check outtake and a clip from a tour commercial. Maybe I have over thought all of this. I just know Mym is not a extention of backspacer to me, and I love Backspacer. This feels different this feels epic

My unbelievably low initial expectations for this album have definitely started to begin rising. MYM is a good song. I don't love it but it's good. It is better than the vast majority of Backspecer.

This new clip reminds me of a heavy "Not For You" and "I Got Shit", and I also hear the Zeppelin influence. These are really positive signs, In my opinion. And I'm now becoming excited to hear if Lightning Bolt can actually be a really good record.

I hope they play this tomorrow night and the recordings are available tomorrow night, but knowing this band the way I have for 20 plus years, makes me believe that it will stay under wraps for the time being. I hope I'm wrong on that.

I'm digging it. I think the Zeppelin influence is very strong here.
For the record, I'm not saying it is another Force of Nature but I hear a ton of similarities in the leads, the guitar runs and some of the progressions. This song seems much more interesting rhythmically but This is clearly a McCready song that i'm expecting to be in the ballpark of what Force of Nature is.

I cant wait to hear this clearly.

Please see:
stip wrote:okay guys, there are a lot of requests for the new song in this thread. it is not commercially available material, but 10 pages of PM me means it's hard to talk about the new song.

Instead of just posting a request in the thread, please just pm RM users theplatypus or E.H. Ruddock. They'll take care of you and the rest of the thread will be clean

Thanks for the warm welcome all...except BurtReynolds who implied I was terribly wrong.

this song soundslike Mymorningjacket with Srv sitting in. With Scott Stap singing from inside a honey bucket with a plastic bag tied over his head.
