is it bad that i'm so dismissive of father john misty that i won't even give his new album a chance? i hate that pompous, haughty ass.

I'm enjoying, but i also love a lot of what he did in Grizzly Bear, and then on his EP. I love his guitar playing and his voice. I also love that GB's drummer is on most of these new songs.

I think it's worth a listen for sure.

i don't think you'll find a song on the album that gets that sort of heavy sound with electric guitar, which Deerslayer offers.

there's more of a free jazz vibe about this one. definitely more acoustic.

having said all that, i really don't know what the hell i'm talking about when it comes to describing music.

i know what i like. i love his voice. i think it always adds to whatever he's playing, and i'm a big fan of the drumming on this. i know zilch about drumming, but again...i know what i like, and Christopher Bear's drumming has always been some of my favorite.

An Awesome Wave is an awesome album, Chris. Sure it's got a shitty name, but what can ya do?

i'm not one to shit on what other people may like (except if it's father john misty). but that band just has never scratched an itch for me. yet other people seem to love them.

upon first listen, it's not panning out to be one of my favorites from him...so not many repeat listens.

the opening track is a little too old-fashioned for me. after that it's fine, but nothing is standing out the way previous albums/tracks did.

ah well.

That Interpol single is pretty underwhelming. Bring back Carlos D etc.
