Not in this case. It was all verbal.
Written confirmations. Everytime.

Had a girl tell me Friday she got an offer from somewhere else. I offered her more than what she told me the other place offered. She told me she would think about it over the weekend and let me know. So today she tells me she’ll stay for $.50 more than what I offered. I accept. Then she says she’ll think about it and let me know. I say, no that’s not how this works. I made you an offer, you countered and I accepted. There is no let me know. Then she says she’ll think about it and let me know by noon tomorrow. Again, I explain that’s not how it works. There’s no more thinking about it. You told me what you wanted in order to stay and I agreed. That’s it. So she responds with “then I guess I don’t have a decision to make.” I respond with I guess not and she storms out.
Now Mrs Wease is telling me she didn’t actually quit. I sure took it that way and she sure projected it that way.

3 hours. She’s still there. A coworker just texted me and said that she thought she still had until tomorrow to let me know. WTF?!?

wease, you need more protocols. When there is a standardized form for everything, you'll never be stressed again

Oh wait I thought you meant quit on the spot.
Or is that what you meant?
Please clarify.

I took it as there wasn’t a decision for her to make because I’d be getting her two-week notice.

Okay, yes.
But I wouldn't be surprised if she comes back in the morning and says she wants to accept your counter. Are u prepared to respond?

sorry, lenny, I didn't mean to impugn your credentials. I'm sure you're good at HR, even though you've failed the SHRM test fifteen times

I have not taken the test, and likely never will.
