Matt has great taste, so that makes sense.

Isn't there some general agreement on this board that DM is Matt's best work with the band? I think it is anyway. Hard to wrap my head around the idea he didn't like the process. I would think that would lead to phoning it in which he certainly didn't do.

Matt is on DM? Can't hear him.

I think his best work is probably Binaural but i agree that DM is a high

And to be really fair..I have never heard Matt speak with enthousiasm about anythimg PJs records or any records.

I remember an interview where he was asked about his fav records he drummed on. He said those were TOTD, Superunknown and Backspacer

Doesn't take away from the fact that he drummed his ass off on DM. Remember the early reports from fall '23? Each of the guys alluded to that once we knew the finishing touches were being applied.

Now, the MIX was terrible in the end, but I don't blame Wottman for that, I blame his mixer buddy (Serb, or whatever).

Matt's departure likely had more to do with the fact that he probably never envisioned 27 yrs with PJ. He has some work he wants to accomplish with the SG crew and getting those last vocal tracks into final form (arrangements, etc). It's also clear he has quite a few other endeavors.

I'm sure PJ took the news graciously even if they were sad to see him go. Side bar: I don't know how you can view any of the other guys as "PJ's Drummer" in the end, unless you really just don't enjoy what MFC brought from a writing and technical stand point. For me, he will always be the band's drummer. Dave A, Dave K, Matt C, Jack I....all just amazing contributors to the body of work, but not "the guy".
