That's the bit that frustrates me because the lyrics should go all Pink Floyd / Sgt. Peppers at that point and they don't. :? It sounds like he started with the intention of writing some really trippy shit and it gradually changed into a love song.
Maybe he starting to lose it but then he catches his breath to breathe and comes back down.

I really wish they went a different route with this song, because I don't mind the lyrics ( above lyrics excused) and I like the idea of a big emotional song cause they havent really done one for a while I think. But I hate the way they executed this. Womp womp womp.

Can't decide if it's more Chris De Burgh or Roy Orbison

I don't know, to me he looked like a Jamaican reggae performer that was edited into the video by mistake from another clip

It might be deliberately both... I just think they've thought about what kind of producer they have here, and committed to going all in. Depends on whether you can stomach that. I don't think they would've done this album (or Backspacer) with someone else, and that makes it very interesting (to me) and very disappointing (to others).

It's a fragile thing.

quite a few Russian comments on Youtube all of a sudden.
must have premiered on some stations here.
PJ is rarely even noticed.
The song is so unashamedly commercial it got squeezed in between the courses of usual international pop oatmeal.
Wow.

Pretty sure this hasn't been autotuned.
When he sings 'have to take your hand and feel your breath' in the first 'pre-chorus', he hits the 'breath' note a tad bit lower than he should.
There are other little imperfections as well.
I'd say it's a live cut that's been cleaned up but not tuned.

There's one line where he sounds like he's been double tracked but almost like the levels have been shot up just for that line. Then it drops off really quickly
Can't remember the lyric

Im pretty sure thats just the actual studio version and the first version we got was a piece of shit. I think of it as being a music video not them actually live.Anyone else feel this is the actual studio version?

Guys, I fucking love this song.

But I don't think that twinkly xylophone in the outro helps it at all. *THAT* makes it sound like a generic radio ballad. In that bit, which is short, so that's good.

Especially if the story about it being written In a motel room with sirens being heard in the distance is true.

So profound.

I think one of the things keeping me out of this song is that its like 50% chorus. And it is pretty, but that 'needs mer chorus' thing is something that drives me nuts about a lot of modern pop....25 seconds of verse, 45 seconds of chorus...it feeds the energy level an helps make a song seem "big," but it's just not for me.
