This makes me wonder how much better Broken Heart or Goodbye could have possibly been if done by the band.

I like what Ed did with the vocals on YM. It's a very successful blend of styles.harmless wrote:Also, "Yellow Moon" just smacked me in the face with awesome. I've decided I don't have enough negativity in me to dislike FD.Mike wrote:I'm always randomly craving to listen to this song and then put it in my playlist as the next song no matter what I'm listening to.
I'm going to say something and no one will agree with me: I think YM and Pendulum would fit very well on ITW. I'm thinking about Long Nights/End Of The Road/The Wolf here.

Re: Sleeping By Myself (Pearl Jam)
I've just realised that this song rips off the lyric "I can't be free with what's locked inside of me" from TMW.
I wonder if Ed just flicks through old notebooks to write new songs.

Re: Sleeping By Myself (Pearl Jam)
CD is 16 bit 44.1khz sample rate. 16 bits refers to the amount of bits, raw computer data that it is, that make up each sample of recorded sound. It's simply resolution. So the more bits per sample, the sharper and more clear the sound. Think of higher resolution pictures and how they look compared to lower resolution pictures. The sample rate refers to how many plots on the analog wave are taken to recreate the analog wave. That's also, in a sense, resolution.stip wrote:how is that possible?
Here's a graph displaying what sample rate is:
Each red point is a sample. So the more of those used the more accurate the recreation of the analog wave.
Like I said, CDs are 44.1khz (or 44,100 samples per second of audio) an each sample is written in 16 bits of code. Lossless files can handle better resolution than this. Lots of people rip vinyl to FLACs but make then 24 bit and 96khz sample rate. Obviously, those lossless files will be significantly higher quality than a CD.

I'm really surprised by how much I like this song. I think they totally nailed it here. I'm still not 100% sold that it should be on the album but if they were going to do it they just about hit the nail on the head.

I feel bad I was so rude to this song's presence at first. I like it more and more.

My feeling exactly. Whether it belongs or not, I'm just really glad to have it.

It's a nice song. Not necessary on the album but I'm glad we have this version.mray10 wrote:I feel bad I was so rude to this song's presence at first. I like it more and more.

I still think this is a slap in the face to the original but I don't hate it as much as I did when I first heard it

Wellp. I never really listened to Ukulele Songs that many times, and after a week with this album, SBM is one of the few songs that I'm still seriously enjoying.

Re: Sleeping By Myself (Pearl Jam)
I think SBM does belong on the album; it's a nice light palate cleanser before Yellow Moon (which is great, but dark) and FD, which is... FD. It's one of three tracks to end the album that all have a folk vibe. So there's that. I think it sounds like a consistent and deliberate finish. Unfortunately I'm really struggling with two of the songs, but that might change. When I like most of an album, the two or three less impressive songs usually end up being forgiven. That's always how I treated PJ records. Question is, to what extent will the two I don't like get let off, and only time will tell.

It's a turning point in the song. He knows he's been betrayed and in this line decides he's got to move on for himself and away from the Hurt of the betrayal.
Great lyric.

I prefer "I can't be free with what's locked inside of me. If there was a key, you took it in your hand."

It's the poinsettia of Pearl Jam lyrics.
