I picked San Fran and Baltimore because i hate NE and im supposed to hate Atlanta
Can't remember but I've been right most of the time.warehouse wrote:whens the last time u didnt pick the pats to win the afc?Coach wrote:I went Niners-Pats.
Pats were my preseason pick to win the AFC, so I want to stay consistent there.
Niners - I want to study their losses (and tie) more, before falling completely in love. ATL at home is still a very difficult test.

I put my money where my mouth is, and I made money this year in my pick 'em league. So yeah, do I pick the Pats often...sure, but they cover the spread, a lot.warehouse wrote:well no shitCoach wrote:Can't remember but I've been right most of the time.warehouse wrote:whens the last time u didnt pick the pats to win the afc?Coach wrote:I went Niners-Pats.

but he was watching them in the 80s and 90s as a kid!BurtReynolds wrote:who wouldnt pick the Pats every year?

I'd be pretty cautious about getting too starry-eyed over how great they looked against GB. That was among the worst defensive efforts I've ever seen. It was like it never even occurred to them to try to adjust to what SF was doing. Not to mention, GB's defense is a pretty weak link to begin with.Coach wrote:Can't remember but I've been right most of the time.warehouse wrote:whens the last time u didnt pick the pats to win the afc?Coach wrote:I went Niners-Pats.

For the record, my preseason pick was Packers over Pats.
Doesn't matter. Looks like the Niners will role through the NFC champ and SB.
In a post full of conjecture that completely ignores actual stats, the last sentence is the worst. Atlanta played the weakest schedule in the NFL this year.Electromatic wrote:I still find the coverage of this Falcons team humorous. A team that has managed to win 57 games in 5 years that is something like 36 - 5 at home in that span is being summarily dismissed as if they don't belong.
This Falcons team is a lot better than almost everyone thinks. Every single game this year I've heard... ok, now we'll see the "real" Falcons. The Real Falcons have beaten every opponent that they have played this season, and won 14 games.
They beat San Francisco in the last 2 years both at home in a game saved by Roddy White and on the road in a bit of a blowout.
I seriously doubt that they let Frank Gore beat them just as they denied Marshawn Lynch. The plan for this game is going to be to force Kapernick to throw the football. Vernon Davis is going to have a fantastic day, because outside of Spoon, the Falcons outside linebacker Stephen Nicholas is poor in coverage as is Akeem Dent in the middle and William Moore is often out of place.
I feel really good about our vastly underated opportunistic secondary against the SF WR's. People look at all the yards the Falcons give up (usually in the 2nd half because the defense is undersized) and think that they can't compete, except that they do. They are a very solid scoring defense.
The offense can score on anyone and they should put up around 30 in this game.
I think this game is going to look a lot like last week and come down to a field goal or at the end.
I don't think I can remember a team with 14 wins on a season more doubted or wrongly assessed as this one. If they are so bad, why are they beating all of these teams "no one wants to play" like the Seahawks last week.
Every single week it's a new juggernaut.

They barely were able to beat trainwrecks of teams like the Raiders, Panthers, and Cardinals at home. Now, they did win those games. And they did beat Seattle. All credit to the Falcons on that point.
But Falcons fans need to stop whining about getting no respect. Who gives a flying fuck whether you're being respected or not? You're in the NFC Championship. Win two more games and you'll have something worth a lot more than respect. No one looks back fondly on that season when Vegas always had them as the favorite.
Hope you're right, Electro. I'll be the world's biggest Falcons fan Sunday - I HATE the 49ers.Electromatic wrote:mray10 wrote:In a post full of conjecture that completely ignores actual stats, the last sentence is the worst. So wait, what stats did you use there?
Beating the shit out of the Giants, New Orleans, Denver.... Philadelphia, Washington....
57 wins in 5 years is a pretty good stat (2nd to New England in the league). 10 interceptions against Brees and both Mannings is a pretty good stat.
They beat everyone on thier schedule this year, that's a pretty good stat.
4700 passing yards and 32 Touchdowns is a pretty good stat. 26.2ppg is a pretty nice stat.
Why isn't some other team sitting in this spot if Atlanta is so undeserving? I keep hearing all about their flaws, but they seem to be winning inspite of them.
I didn't say a damn word about respect. I find it odd that the Falcons are this much of a home dog to the 49ers.
I think it's going to look a lot like last week.
Thanks, you guys have a great team I'm sure they'll be back next year Russell Wilson is awesome. Falcons fans live to watch replays of Marshawn Lynch destroying the Saints defense in the playoffs.RussellManiac12 wrote:Hope you're right, Electro. I didn't get that a lot of my fellow Seahawks fans thinking we were going in and easily handling you guys last week. I thought it would be a tight game. (Though I did think we would win).
Best of luck this week.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. There's no room for "logic" in this thread, pal.Orpheus wrote:I've come around a bit on the Falcons, but I still think Seattle should have won that game. What soured me on them a bit were the losses to Carolina and Tampa Bay at the end of the season and the fact that they only narrowly beat some pretty bad teams, plus their lack of pass rush which pops up at inopportune times. Their passing game is obviously very potent and I like their linebackers and secondary a lot. You have to remember that prior to this playoff win they had basically folded like a tent in the postseason three straight times. People don't forget that.
And the Manning thing is so stupid. Football is a team sport. Manning can't play safety. If Matt Bryant misses that FG at the end of Falcons-Seahawks, is that Matt Ryan's fault? Of course not. The fact that amazing players like Marino are basically dismissed because they didn't win a ring just shows you how stupid that argument is. A QB is one out of 22 positions and they can only control what they can control. Joe Flacco and Mark Sanchez have awesome playoff records, so I guess that makes them better than Manning and Marino.
