The weakest of the season, but a weak episode by their standards is still entertaining.

Loved the Jon/Ygritte scenes the most.

although Tywin and Olenna trading verbal punches was almost as good as last weeks Berric vs Hound fight.

Get it, Sam! Although, I can't imagine she's in the best of shape down there.

Thats actually what my wife and I noticed. Standard HBO set up though- one week set up, one week payoff and repeat, so Im not complaining. They didnt even show the most interesting thing to happen this week with Tyrion and Sansa not being shown.

I don't think they needed it.

They handled it masterfully. Sansa's reaction, watching the ship in the distance, was much more powerful than the actual scene could possibly have been. Plus, Tyrion's lead in was fantastic - a perfect cut-away moment.

I'm glad we didn't see it.

I'm sure it was cut for time if it was even filmed. I barely noticed it was missing.

This is really nitpicky, but the lighting and special effects on top of the wall looked so fake. Killed the scene for me.

I actually liked this episode. I'm resigned to the reality that I'm not going to get a quick moving, riveting episode every week. And I realize the need for episodes like last night. When the plots they're setting up finally crest, I appreciate shows like last night's even more.

And the Varys/Littlefinger scene was amazing.

I didn't really have a problem with the pace or action either. The last two weeks were stellar so I figured this one would be setting up the final third or so of the season.

I don't understand the expectation that every episode is going to be full of fireworks, revelations and blood gushing from a wound.

I am just glued to pretty much every scene and even the episodes where they are just setting up go too quick. We need some more varys.

The week wait in between each episode does not do any favors for these slower paced episodes. I don't mind them at all but for people who critique every episode they can be a bore.

Probably true.

But I feel like if these episodes bore you, you're missing the point to some degree. What makes the books so great is the chess match. The show has dialed up the action in a variety of places. But, for me, the best scenes are almost always the talking head scenes. This is a character-driven, geo-political thriller. And episodes like last night's are the spine, I think.

Three GREAT episodes in a row.

I agree, but there is a large number of people who watch this show for the action, boobs, and dragons.

I agree, but there is a large number of people who watch this show for the action, boobs, and dragons.

And those are all nice things, too.

Those are three things all good shows should have. And lots of people watch Breaking Bad just for the drug dealer stuff. No big deal. The shows can still be great so long as they provide a deeper element for those who care to look.

The boobs, action, and dragons are window dressing for the real meat of the series. It is a shame that shows like The Walking Dead are all window dressing.

I enjoyed the episode for what it was. But I think they should of shown it, especially given the lead up of Shae not leaving.

I don't know if they should of shown it, but I don't think they should have shown it either

Sorry, but more Tyrion=more gooder. especially if it's a chance to see him being outside of his normal flippant self.
