Been enjoying this last mix. Quick initial review:

1) Solid opener. Can't go wrong.
2) Never been a fan of this band, but I like the core of this song
3) Mix continues with the upbeat vibe. This group has always been super hit and miss for me
4) Fucking love this song
5) Man. You know what? When this came out, I was nowhere close to enjoying this type of song. But now, revisiting I'm digging it more. Nice sample.
6) kinda random placement (if we're critiquing that sort of thing), but good song
7) not a big fan of this. sounds like something Mandy Moore would make if she was growing out of her teeny bopper image today
8) nope
9) no idea what this is. enjoyable though. nice lyric-driven song
10) eh, i could give or take this one. i've always had the same opinion of this group as i did with song #3
11) this is really good. never heard it, but looking forward to finding out who it is

overall, i enjoyed this mix. a few duds here and there for my personal tastes, but a few songs that have me interested in exploring those artists once I find out who they are

On my second listen--gonna give it a review

Track 1: A few years ago I would have dismissed this one out of hand, but I've been much more open to this kind of stuff lately. This is a very cool song. I especially love the out of breath desperation at the end of the chorus. I don't know if I'll check out this band, but this song will definitely make it onto the ipod.

Track 2: I like this one too. The banjo is an underused instrument. Nice attitude in this one, and the assertiveness in the singer plays nicely with the music

Track 3: I don't like the beastie boys. But this wasn't bad. I'd never seek this out, but I didn't feel compelled to skip it either. The music was good.

The beastie boys song reminded me of this skit from The State

track 4: Not my thing, but it's very good for what it is (this is that singer Lament is in love with, right?). I allllmmmmoooossstttt like it. If it gets a few more listens I might.

Track 5: I think the fugees are boring outside of Lauryn Hill, and I hate sampling. Write your own fucking music.

I think you were her first really vocal champion. I remember you winning Harmless over. My tastes have really started to open up towards this kind of stuff in the intervening months, because i think I dismissed this (politely) back then.

I think Jorge and I started talking about her in the MIA thread. He's the one who started her OB thread, so he deserves some recognition too.

Track 6: this is vaguely Bends era radioheadish at the start. Isn't this that St. Vincent band? I gave this a listen a month or so ago and keep meaning to go back to it. It's an interesting song--definitely going to need a few more listens to figure out, but compelling enough that I want to invest the time.

So far this is a good mix. very 'what has RM been listening to'.
