This is good.
Definitely a more “cut to the chase “ approach. A few songs would benefit from extended musical exploration which I’m sure they will as their tour goes on.
Melodies are strong. Production is perfection. Some super strong standouts upon three listens. Last two songs leave something to be desired.
Still digesting lyrics.
I love this band.

This gets better every listen. The melodies and differences start to stand out a little more between each song and passage.
And per usual - the vinyl sounds fucking fantastic. This guy knows how to produce a record for my tastes!

This album is well done. It’s probably their best album if we were basing it on the first six songs. It does stray a little for me after that. But man, those first six.
Harmonia’s Dream is the perfect song that best represents this band’s sound. It’s so good. But man, I Don’t Wanna Wait … wow.

Agreed that it kind of loses steam by the end. The last three tracks are very....."been there done that" in various forms throughout the record.
Everything up through Old Skin is absolutelyt top notch though.

Fuck do i ever love this album. I do agree with everyone else though the last couple songs aren't great.
I can't get over how good it sounds on my system.
I really love Victim
I still find it weird how much I like this band. I feel like they are only a degree or two away from one of those shitty 80s bands my dad likes.

it's like you knew i was even going to post in here this morning.
a lot of WOD sounds the same to me. i know, i'm a shit for saying such a thing. however, i'm very much enjoying this tiny desk set, playing it a few times since I've been up.
these guys are definitely a band i feel i'd appreciate much more in a live setting.

also, there's no such thing as a shitty 80s band.

Did anyone else notice that their last four releases all have 10 songs on them.

a lot of early WOD stuff seems to meld with kurt vile's early records, in what sounds like a drum machine and a guitar.
i don't mean that as an insult, and i know the two of them have been on either's records so it makes sense.
i like it.

Yea kurt vile was IN the band until he split on his own.
I kind of love every WoD record but really Lost in the Dream was really when Adam became the songwriter he meant to be. Desert Island album. So perfect.

yeah, i got into KV before WOD, so I tend to conflate the two, with KV being the one who first had that specific sound WOD do. but having WOD play in the background while i work today, i'm like, oooo...what is that? i like that tone. or, hey, that reminds me of a KV tune.
WOD are definitely hitting differently--in a good way--today than they had before.

Haven't listened to the new one yet, but Lost in the Dream is one of my favorite albums of the 2010's.

i still think i'm one of the few people on this planet that prefers a deeper understanding to lost in a dream.
also, both records have that "cathartic" moment for me: 5:15 of In Reverse (when the acoustic kicks in) and 6:26 of In Chains with the piano and sax finale
