Not a surprise that ASU lost to Oregon State. Anybody that follows the Devils should have known they would shit the bed at the end of the season. Kelly is a mediocre QB at best and their defense has been getting lucky most of the year. The team is well-coached, but they still don't really get the talent that will keep them at the top of the Pac. For the past 10 years or so, PHX has had some of the best high school football in the nation. If they could simply keep those kids they'd become a powerhouse, but the draw of the Cali schools is too great.

I kind of expected a let down for ASU after last week. Kinda thought they'd win a nail biter though.

My tenants (Beavers fans) actually went to see that ASU/OSU game. They seemed a little uncertain about the game, but I told them that no team should ever underestimate Mike Riley. I'm with you, that score did not surprise me.

Kelly is from here and a few BSU fans were upset with Coach Pete at the time for not landing him as the heir apparent to Kellen Moore, but as usual he knew what he was doing. And it's interesting what you say about PHX not retaining its talent. That's something that the Northwest schools do very well, especially Oregon and BSU.

I wouldn't say that I'm a fan of BSU, but I do like to see them do well, along with several other college teams. Plus, it's just tough to avoid talking about them here as you might imagine. This is definitely a college football town first and foremost.

I have no real opinion on Harsin yet but BSU fans seem to really like him and don't seem heartbroken at all that Coach Pete left. I'm told that he was key in recruiting before he went off to Texas and Arkansas St., and his absence caused some recruiting problems starting the year after Moore graduated. They've sniped a couple defensive players away from A&M, and landed a relative of Mark Rypien (either his son or nephew) that many thought UW or Wazzu let slip through the cracks (just like Prosser native Kellen Moore). I figured there'd be some transitional growing pains but instead they're 8-2 and perhaps the favorite now for the G5 spot if they win out.

College football town? I live in Lincoln, Nebraska. Yes, I get what you are saying.

I think it was kinda time with CP. I guess he is good friends with Tom Osborne so there have been rumors TO wanted him here for a long time. Now that TO is no longer the AD though and CP is at Wash that probably will never happen. I'm not sure how his skill set translate to a power 5 conference. Time will tell. I like Washington so I hope he does well.

I hope these last three weeks of the season descend into pure chaos.

I don't hate the fact that it's 4. I think 16 is too many. Maybe even 8 is too many as well. I like the idea of 6. Have 3 & 6 and 4 and 5 play. Those two move on to play 1 and 2. I think that works better. I just don't like the idea of a team winning the national title with like 3-4 losses and if you make it a 16 or even 8 team playoff that could happen. It kind of diminishes the regular season. Just my 2 cents.

Osborne never lost 4 games in a season. Three was the most and that only happened 8 times in 25 years. Also, less games back then. I see what you are saying though. If you lose it happens. But not like that. We looked like an NAIA team and Wisconsin is like the 3rd best team in the conference. Bo's ego is too damn big to make adjustments and he won't fire his yes man assistant coaches.

Most fans are waiting for the next TO to walk into town. Won't happen. It will never been 1995 again. Does not mean we can't have a better program with the right staff. Once the well was dried up from the Callahan era (when we actually had some great classes) Bo's teams have looked mediocre and bad against good teams.

As much as part of me pines for the option I'd be ok with an offense and a brand of football like Wisconsin's. Big, nasty O lines, good RBs, QBs who manage the game, disciplined defenses, etc. With what we have to work with recruiting wise no reason we can't have teams like that.

All of that being said I think Paul Johnson would win here.

As much as part of me pines for the option I'd be ok with an offense and a brand of football like Wisconsin's. Big, nasty O lines, good RBs, QBs who manage the game, disciplined defenses, etc. With what we have to work with recruiting wise no reason we can't have teams like that.

All of that being said I think Paul Johnson would win here.

If someone else could recruit for Paul Johnson he could freaking dominate. He comes off as very acerbic but given say a Tommie Frazier type to play QB... I mean he would crush people.

His main issue is usually talent at QB and on defense.

I think 8 would be too many. 4 is the right amount for right now. I'm sure money will win out in the end and it will be a 16 team playoff by 2025, watering down the regular season immensely.

I agree with you that Bo doesn't seem to have the wherewithal to run an elite program as a head coach, but I think a Paul Johnson hiring would be a lateral move for the program. I thought they should have canned Pelini last year after the Iowa loss, but who would be a valid replacement? I'm always of the belief that if you fire someone you better have a few candidates lined up.

College football has much more parody now than it did in the 90's and earlier. What are Nebraska fans expectations? 10+ win seasons? That might not be realistic in today's college football climate, especially in the Big Ten.
