Kind of unbelievable that it is very possible for them to clinch next week.
NFL Parity + Injuries
or maybe the Dolphins are a pretty good team...
lol
Or maybe the Patriots aren't a very good team? Take your pick, I suppose.

The Dolphins are 8-6, have really only been blown out once (in New Orleans on a Monday night, hardly the mark of a bad team), have beaten New England, Indy and Cincinnati, and they beat Pittsburgh on the road in the snow, whose biggest obstacle seems to be playing up or down to the level of their opponents (hence the inexcusable losses to the likes of Tampa and the Bills).
Are they a legitimate Super Bowl contender? Probably not, but they are a pretty good team, and Tannehill is turning into a pretty damn good QB and leader (he'd be better with an offensive line, but I digress).

The Dolphins have been slowly collecting excellent talent since after the 1-15 debacle of a season. Philbin and Tannehill may be those key pieces that finally let them take off.

inexcusable losses to the likes of the Bills?!
screw you you dirty Fin fan!
i kid, i kid. i hate all things AFC East except for the Bills. that being said, i do hate the Fins the least. i have some good friends that are Miami fans and we share the common hate for the Pats and Jets. Back in the 90s though, i hated Miami with a passion.
let's talk about the Bills though.

this team has so much talent, especially on defense. but even offensively, loads of talent. just need the QB situation figured out. the D is put in some bad situations because the O (terrible playcalling + decision making) puts them there. the Bills deserve no coverage of talk time on Sportscenter until they can consistently win games like week 1, week 6, week 9, week 13. but again, lots of talent.
anyway...i'm going to root for you guys to get in. the teams right behind are just so uninteresting to me if they would slide into that final spot, i.e. Baltimore or San Diego. i want to see what Miami can do.

Thanks to the Steelers knocking off Cinci last night, the Dolphins actually control their own destiny now

I was about to say that they still need a Ravens loss, but I played around with a playoff generator, and you're right, due to the BAL/CIN game to close out the season. If all three teams finish 10-6 (meaning the Ravens win out), the Ravens win the AFC North, and the Dolphins bounce the Bengals on the head to head tiebreaker.

It'll be in Denver if that's the case, so that wouldn't scare me too much. If it was in Miami I'd be mortified.

This was a fraud of a team all season, only fitting that they get blown out by the Bills and Jets in back to back weeks to end it all.
PLEASE let this be the end for Jeff Ireland. If it is then those last two games are the best thing to happen for this franchise in a long time.
Mike Sherman needs to be fired too, I just hope he's not the main fall guy here.

i just didn't get the hype this team was generating. but i do think next year will be the year they could very well challenge the Pats for the division. i also look for the Bills to be much improved. by that, i mean 8/9 wins.

I think the Bills have a TON of hope for the future. Whether they live up to it probably depends on whether Manuel is any good, but there is a lot of talent on that team.
Miami Dolphins, reigning offseason champs.

Looks like Mike Pouncey and John Jerry are also in trouble now.

Ted Wells wrote:After a thorough examination of the facts, we conclude that three starters on the Dolphins offensive line, Richie Incognito, John Jerry and Mike Pouncey, engaged in a pattern of harassment directed at not only Martin, but also another young Dolphins offensive lineman, whom we refer to as Player A for confidentiality reasons, and amember of the training staff, whom we refer to as the Assistant Trainer. We find that the Assistant Trainer repeatedly was targeted with racial slurs and other racially derogatory language.Player A frequently was subjected to homophobic name-calling and improper physical touching. Martin was taunted on a persistent basis with sexually explicit remarks about his sister and his mother andat times ridiculed with racial insults and other offensive comments.

The OL coach is also in deep shit:
Dolphins’ Offensive Line Coach Jim Turner was aware of the running “joke” that Player A was gay, and on at least one occasion, he participated in the taunting. Around Christmas 2012, Coach Turner gave the offensive linemen gift bags that included a variety of stocking stuffers. The gifts included inflatable female dolls for all of the offensive linemen except Player A, who received a male “blow-up” doll. Martin and another player reported that they were surprised Coach Turner did this; Martin further said that he was offended that Turner had endorsed the humiliating treatment of Player A by participating in it. Incognito and others agreed that this incident with Coach Turner occurred. When interviewed, Turner was asked if he gave Player A a male blow-up doll. He replied, “I can’t remember.” We do not believe that Turner forgot this incident, which many others recalled.
