So which performance actually aired?
Those were pretty good, yeah. Sounded like a band who could still make an incredible record if they really wanted to.

That was pretty fantastic.
Through all the blah blah blah, this band's still got it.

I cranked it through the big speakers rather than the TV and it really did sound great.
Fantastic TV mix

Cool.
I think every TV performance these days (even Got Some) I'm always astounded by how much better the guitar tones are than on record. I think the first time was on those 2006 AOL sessions, and now ever since.

Probably even more than one. I guess it all comes down to what one thinks of as an incredible record. I believe they need a quality record at this point of their career because their music seems to be the thing they aren't the most famous for. It's sort of evident from the interview they did with Colbert.

Stone's guitar sounded gloriously ragged last night.

Well mixing some things down to inaudible levels may have helped some of their recent recordings.

so when eddie isn't jumping around like a maniac, he seems to be able to keep his breath a little better.
weird.. maybe he should realize he's 50 and try that approach more often.

And give up smoking.
It's his instrument.

Watching it again, they nailed MYM. Definitely the best live version I've heard.

It wasn't awkward because Colbert actually made them all laugh.

Well, for clarification's sake, my post was meant to be read as "if you didn't know any better..."
