I like the idea of ranking The Dark Tower as a series, bada. I should've done that.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Pretty sure I have read all his stuff except for revival, and the newest story collection. Hard to make a list without re-reading everything. These are at the top for me
The Talisman
Dark Tower
Dead Zone
eyes of the dragon
different seasons
night shift
the stand
skeleton crew

I'm kinda bummed that they're doing a large run of this. I liked it as a little 125 copies (or whatever it was) thing that you had to get at Comic Con.
Still... It's cool. And I'm SURE I'll end up grabbing one.

Outside of On Writing, which is excellent, I don't think I really like Stephen King.

Oh, and Maximum Overdrive ,the movie, which is a goddamn masterpiece.

Just saw this. As someone who's read every book, I wonder what you think of a few of the titles I've skipped. Are any of these worth checking out?
Rose Madder
Blaze
Firestarter
Dream Catcher
None of those I would classify as top-teir works. Rose Madder I have only read once (96?), but liked it. Blaze I had high hopes for, but was disappointed in the Lindbergh baby conceit, and the absolute pathetic nature of the narrator. Sad. Dreamcatcher is a blender book. Starts strong and goes way off the rails. "Tommyknockers 2." Firestarter I can hardly remember, the movie has corrupted my mind.

Rose Madder
Blaze
Firestarter
Dream Catcher
Rose Madder is one that everyone seems to think his wife wrote. It's a good book to read once.
Blaze I feel bad about because that doesn't even ring a bell.
Firestarter is early so it's more raw in a lot of ways. The movie might be better?
Dreamcatcher is hard to read because of the amount of pain meds he was on. You can tell, it's an angry book.

Yeah, I like this move.
Reading up on it... seems like this is all good news. The studio seems to like this movie more than they thought they would. So, take the time to get the FX right. Plus more time to market. Plus release in the middle of summer. Seems like the execs think they have a bonafide blockbuster on their hands.

Considering the marketing thus far has been very under-the-radar, I can only hope they get on the ball.

I've loved the marketing so far. They're trying to keep the budget down. The marketing as been super viral and cheap. And it has a ready-made, built-in audience. This is nothing but good news.

I have ad blockers installed so most of the Internet advertising is lost on me. Which sucks because the little of that I have seen has been exciting.

Every time I see the subject title of this, my mind reads the Dork Tower. But not this time.
