All of this Wilco talk lately makes me sad I missed their show in KC Wednesday. I had tickets and didn't go due to a friend backing out. Lame.

Nor do I usually. Three hour ride there and three hours back (in the dark)....if it had been Omaha (like 45 mins away) sure.

yeah, that would've been a deal breaker for me too.

I like Star Wars. It could be the kind of record that convinces me to check out some more of Wilco's catalog beyond Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, the only album of their's that I've enjoyed beyond a cursory "yeah, that's kinda neat."
Star Wars is obviously a very different record to YHF; it actually reminds me a little bit of the current sound that Thee Silver Mt. Zion have going on. Sort of fuzzy and dense sounds that seem pretty simple on the surface, but have a bunch of tiny details when you pay attention. "More...," "Random Name Generator," "King of You," and "Magnetized" are the highlights as of now.

I haven't listened yet because the files are still sitting on my PC at home... I suppose I should because I just bought tickets to see them here in Montreal in September.
It'll be my first time seeing them live.

I really love the I Am Trying to Break Your Heart doc. A lot don't like it but I find it very interesting.
Excellent version of Art of Almost the time I saw them.

Seeing them tonight for the first time. Kinda hoping it's not too star warsy... But it seems like they've been playing the whole album.

So yeah, they played the full album in order to start the show. Kinda strange because it's a very schizophrenic song sequence but I actually quite liked it. There was no talking until they finished the album. You Satellite was particularly mesmerizing, and the build-up finale of Magnetized was powerful. However, once you kick into the next song (Handshake drugs) you sorta feel like, "ok, now the show is really starting".
Lots of YHF, so I went home a happy man, although Camera was a bit of a botched experiment. I am Trying to Break Your Heart and Jesus, etc more than made up for it.
