Why Pearl Jam Doesn't Play the South

Seriously, your #1 pick for "band's biggest mistake" is who Vedder chooses to marry? What are we, Justin Bieber fans?

Im glad someone else brought that up. Thanks platy. I really hate it when people use that as excuse for why they dont like pearl jam anymore.

:haha:

sorry if i sound corny here but maybe he came around the fact, like most adults do, that there are people underneath their physical and mediatic shells. i'm sure that Jill is a good person - and she doesn't look like she's encouraging anorexic behaviour.

You are not who you used to be, and that’s OK. You’ve been hurt; you’ve gone through numerous ups and downs that have made you who you are today. Over the years, so many things have happened – things that have changed your perspective, taught you lessons, and forced your spirit to grow. As time passes, nobody stays the same, but some people will still tell you that you have changed. Respond to them by saying, “Of course I’ve changed. That’s what life is all about. But I’m still the same person, just a little stronger now than I ever was before.”

yeah, that's all well and good for normal people, just not for the rock star persona, generally.

Bah. Something to do with the pearl jam brand. Just sad. You go to their website and the main page is all BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY. buy t shirt. BUY A FLAG! T SHIRTS! SOCKS!!

Its not even a piece of art. yes, websites can be that. You are inundated with retail shit of the PJ corporation. That fucking sucks. Its super sad.

It's gross and a genuine turn-off that they release more t-shirt designs than they do original songs these days.

The band doesn't seem to operate like a real band anymore. They're Kiss, Bon Jovi, U2, Metallica. Pretend bands, you know? Pretend bands can still be a lot of fun, of course, but they're not real bands.

To be honest, I found old Eddie to be a little bit of a drama queen and a jerk. I like him better now. he was probably a better artist when he was a drama queen jerk, though.

If this is for real, did Ed get this idea from the CharDee MacDennis episode of It's Always Sunny?

I thought the way they handled this was great. The thing was exploding on the radio when it was discovered from the fan club single, and rather than leave it to fester on its own, they at least put it out as a benefit for Kosovo refugees. So that happenstance hit ultimately went to public good.

Really, it was an excellent cover that ended up being played to death - and an outlayer that strangely brought a crossover audience in for a little while. Binaural certainly set the record straight and we were back to hard core Pearl Jam fans only after that.

agreed, it might be one of the best things they've done.

the Last Kiss thing was so bizarre. if 2013 Pearl Jam put out Last Kiss, it wouldn't make me flinch. But that it happened to '98 Pearl Jam... that's what was so strange to me
