Some semi-surprises that I'm very happy to see include: Paul Mescal for Best Actor, Ana de Armas for Best Actress, and The Quiet Girl (Ireland) for Best International Film.

The little girl from Aftersun deserved it more than him. Im happy to see Ana de Armas yeah...i dont think she has a chance though.
Really surprised to see all the Everything....nominations really.

EEAAO nominations were pretty obvious and predictable, IMO. It's a feel-good movie that gestures vaguely at profundity. It's a shoo-in.
I really don't like the film, but I do think Stephanie Hsu and Ke Huy Quan deserve their nominations. Wouldn't be mad at either of them winning

But it has a scene where people are fighting to stick an award up their asses. Not exactly Oscar bate
