If you have an extra 15 seconds to do it, and you aren't holding anyone up by doing so, what exactly is the problem though?
Nowadays, with excellent reverse cameras with on screen guides and all, bleeping proximity sensors and all the rest, it actually makes it far more efficient to reverse into a bay, particularly a tighter fit.
To my mind this is a rare, solid irrational hate.
back upper post
100%.
Only when it makes sense for me to do so though. I park straight up at least 90% of the time.

The fact is that backing into a parking space so that you can pull forward when leaving is actually safer and can help reduce your risks of injuries to yourself and others. The American Automobile Association (AAA) recommends all drivers back into parking spaces whenever possible
About 95% of the cars I see that are backed in are missing bumpers, a side panel is crumpled, driving on a spare. It’s certainly not safe drivers.

there's a little ember/flame red haired kid no more than 4 years old screeching and swinging out of a railing the last hour and full throated screaming, while its parents are trying to break off a clamp thats been put on their car cos they obviously cant pay the fine to get the clamp released, and i'd love to shoot the stupid city council for doing this into the sun
how the fuck does imposing clamping for onstreet parking, beside a childrens hospital, help anyone?

Anecdotal. That's like saying most people who don't smoke end up dying a terrible death anyway. Still safer not to smoke.

Non smokers die of second hand smoke. Pull in parkers are smashed by back in parkers

If this is true, why aren't angled spots positioned in the opposite way?

you're supposed to pull head first into those and then wait for the person in front of you to leave so you can pull through that lane and avoid backing altogether

you're just talking about people who suck at backing up.. some (many, probably most) people shouldn't drive at all, agreed

I back in every now and then when I’m not holding up anybody coming up behind me mainly because people zip through parking lots and it can be difficult to see when I’m backing out to leave. If I’m there’s a pull through opportunity I take advantage most of the time.

Burt what do you think about pulling through? So you don’t back in but it appears you did

tragedy.
It's tricky to park vettes because you're so far back on the rear wheel and they are so low to the ground. Too easy to curb it!
Easy to back out though.

The ultimate move would be to back into a pull through.
