Duh, can't believe I forgot Wilco.

Are we certain the two Beach House albums aren't the same album under different names?

But did Beach House talk about Thank Your Lucky Stars? Wasn't it a sudden surprise?

I thought the question was about bands who actually kept their advertised promise of a quick follow-up, not just "bands that released another album very quickly after their last album"

Isaac Brock claimed the quick follow up to the latest Modest Mouse album would be out in 2016. Deadline is approaching.

Yeah it's a weird thing. I still enjoy them a lot, and actually really liked their last album. But I get what you're saying.

I've never understood the praise for Moon & Antarctica. One of their weakest records, IMO. But I don't love them as a band.

Modest Mouse were one of the very first "indie" bands I discovered, and I'll always appreciate the way they helped shape the way I think about music, but I can't stand to listen to them anymore. Isaac Brock sounds like such a jackass.

"Dashboard" was really good too.

i was very disappointed in their last one, but I'm a big fan of We Were Dead Before...

Spitting Venom and Parting of the Sensory are awesome.

Two incredible songs. Another favorite from that record is "March Into The Sea".

I love the back half of the latest album, from "Sugar Boats" on. "Of Course We Know" is my favorite MM song in a long time.

There are lots of other moments I really enjoy. The bridge about a third of the way through "Coyotes" has such a bare Godspeed You Black Emperor vibe to it, although it feels like a strange placement and only lasts for about 30 seconds. Love it.

The opener "Strangers to Ourselves" is pretty great. The strings are used perfectly with some solid vintage, echoing background guitar notes, and is one of the better examples of Brock using a seemingly mundane situation to abstractly blow it up into something a little more thought-provoking.... something he hasn't done quite as well the past few albums.

"Ansel" is a great song just bc it hits kind of close to home to me. Tinged with a sadness that's butted up against the jangly nature of the song.

When was the last time a band actually delivered on the promise to quickly release a follow-up to an album? MMJ said they would after the Waterfall and didn't, U2 of course, Pearl Jam and their infamous EPs...

I can only think of Drive-By Truckers with "The Big To-Do" and "Go-Go Boots" (11 mo. apart).
Ryan Adams with Cold Roses, JCN and 29 within 12 months.

I'm sure Guided By Voices or Robert Pollard have done this. Dude releases an album like every 12 weeks.

Thee Oh Sees do the same. 3 albums in 4 months or something stupid.

I can't even listen to them anymore because it all just blends together. Occasionally I'll throw on Lonesome Crowded West and love it but that's about it.
