That's a deeply idiotic statement regardless of context, especially when followed by "it's not incest between men".

Here's the context, anyway

Right, but he's talking about taxes, specifically.

I'm not saying what he said was ill-thought and inappropriate. But he's not bashing gay marriage, or saying that gay marriage leads to incest or anything like that.

He misspoke a bit and has since apologized for it.

Right, but it's still a dumb, dumb comment. Get me? I'm not posting it as "this guy is a bigot", I'm posting it as "look at the dumb shit this guy says".

Yeah, I do get what you're saying, Jorge. And I agree. Obviously. I just thought your initial JI quote was unfairly represented. Doesn't excuse him, but the context does change the implication of the quote a bit. Still dumb.

I admit I really dig the trailer for the extended cut. Maybe I'll just see that version and skip the theatrical cut all together.

Heck of an apology...

"Perhaps rather too flippantly I flew the kite of an example of the legal quagmire that might occur if same sex marriage entered the statute books, by raising the possibility of future marriage between same sex family members for tax reasons, (incest being illegal primarily in order to prevent inbreeding, and therefore an irrelevance in non reproductive relationships). Clearly this was a mischievous argument, but nonetheless valid.”

He moved on to railing against abortion after that.

I mostly associate him with the second-rate adaptations/remakes and fourth-rate fantasy trash he did after that.

I guess I was referring to this part where he said he wished he buttoned his lip before discussing the issue and then went on to say "I think gay marriage is wonderful. I think any reason that holds anybody together in a relationship is great." And "If it works as glue, if it makes you feel better, if it makes you feel you love your partner more, then great."

Again, not much in the way of an apology.

But aren't you glad we can actually take him to task for things he said instead of implications he didn't actually make? I know I am.
