I'm trying to cross off some movies that have been on my watch list for ages.

Master and Commander - loved it

Miller's Crossing - Fantastic. Top tier Coen Brothers.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

That’s a great day of movies.

I turned them on very early. I also had the cast of characters handy. A lot of names being thrown around.

Yeah I was a bit lost my first viewing.

I do subtitles on every movie because I’m deaf and a dumb*ss.

Unless I'm watching a foreign language film I can't stand subtitles. It's the most old man yelling at clouds thing about. Probably.

I find I can't help but read faster than the dialogue is spoken and it really takes me out of the movie.

Watched the Last Duel. The telling of the story three different times basically the same way with the exception of a few things was a little tedious and boring. More like Last Gruel amirite.

Affleck and Damon weren’t as bad as i thought they would be, though

I didn't think so! I thought it was fundamental to the movie's examination of consent and power and with a few exceptions I didn't feel like it was re-treading old ground.

I just think it could have been done a little quicker.

I mean, fair, it's a 153 minute movie. There's definitely some shit in there we did not need (Le Gris in Scotland comes to mind).

Do you think Affleck and Driver really took their pants off for those women in the bed?

Spencer - this one was a slog.
